At the age of 50, the surgeon Privy Councillor Professor Imhoff marries the young, beautiful but poor orphan Annie von Arenberg. On the wedding day, the professor's students put on a ceremonial procession. Annie falls in love with the student speaker Baron Bernfeld. After a few months, she leaves her husband for him. Although the professor can hardly bear the defeat, he does not take revenge, but saves her new young lover's life during a complicated surgical operation.

Helene, a painter, loses a necklace and takes work as a caricaturist to pay the debt. Not wishing to be recognized, she does the work in a clown costume.

Burkett, superintendent of the Western Railway, opposes his daughter's friendship for Dick Benton, one of the company's lawyers, favoring the latter's fellow-worker, Guy Warren. Warren succeeds in putting through a scheme which results in Dick's discharge. The lovers plan to elope and enlist the aid of Helen. But Eleanor's father learns of the move and wires ahead to police officials to board her train and arrest her while he follows in his special. By a daring leap from a handcar to the train Helen succeeds in warning Eleanor of her peril, but is too late, and Helen and Dick are forced to stand idly by while Burkett starts on the return trip in his special, carefully guarding Eleanor.

Lulu, the bishop's daughter, and Tom, the Duke of Bilgewater's nephew, are in love and want to marry. Their relatives oppose the marriage, however, because Lulu's marriage contract with a curate has been signed and Tom is engaged to his ugly cousin, Lady Mary. Lulu and Tom elope to America and look for work.

A society cracksman is caught when his dying victim pulls out his glass eye. There's a hint of Holmes' nemesis Professor Moriarty to the criminal mastermind of this WWI crime entertainment.

Florence, trying to escape fortune hunters, is residing at the seashore, when her maid dies. Florence has pretended to be the maid of this woman and she continues the deception. Her death is cabled to her attorney in New York, who advises her cousin and his wife, who have an adopted son, Harry. Later Harry meets the girl in her disguise as maid, and both are impressed.

On Oct. 23, 1916, Theodore Roosevelt campaigns for Republican presidential nominee Charles Evans Hughes and assails the Wilson administration in Albuquerque, N.M. A young woman rides on horseback carrying a bouquet of flowers. There is an auto parade. Roosevelt passes by in an open touring car. Seated next to him is a man who appears to be Albert B. Fall, one of New Mexico's first U.S. Senators (1912-1921) and later secretary of the interior until exposure of his involvement in the Teapot Dome scandal.

Mrs. John Smithers believes her newlywed husband to be a paragon of virtue. Reality sets in as he spends a night out drinking with friends, and a series of lies ends up as comedic fodder.

The inhabitants of Vienna line the streets to salute the soldiers who go to the war. The butcher and widower Franz Xaver Wamperl succeeds to enroll himself in the army, and so does his son Ferdl, who becomes a platoon leader. Ferdl is a womanizer, who at the same time has three fiancées in Vienna: Franzi, Resl and Poldi. All three girls remain faithful to him, when he's away at the front, and all of them send passionate love-letters to him. On May Day both Ferdl and his father Franz are back in Vienna on a short leave. They are sitting in an open-air café with another soldier, when suddenly Poldi and Franzi turn up at the same time. When the two women find out that Ferdl has a romance with both of them, they start to weep and quarrel. Ferdl tries to escape, but land in a fight between Franzi and Resl.

Set at a recreational resort in the mountains, where a group of people have their lives and loves interveined.

On May 27, 1916, groups of men, the 7th Regiment Band, and several children march on the road from the Oyster Bay railroad station to Sagamore Hill to demonstrate their support of TR for the 1916 Presidential nomination. Views of TR addressing the large crowd assembled on the lawn of Sagamore Hill. The rally was organized by the Roosevelt Non-Partisan League of New York City.

Story of a factory worker who is fired because she tries to protect one of her fellow employees from the lusty advances of their boss. She then joins forces with a crook and becomes his mistress. Although she winds up in jail because he stashed some of his stolen goods at her home, she escapes by flirting with the warden and then drugging him.

While on the first job he learns the art of loafing, and on returning to the shop is called up by his girl, who invites him to an afternoon reception.

The new superintendent's first order on taking the post eliminates the men whom he terms old, which costs "Pop" Bates his job as Helen's relief operator. His next declaration is that active railroad work is no place for women, and Helen is also dropped from the service. While Helen is breaking the news to Bob Bates, the new superintendent is hustling about the road yard speeding up the work. "Put more snap into your switching," he tells the men. A minute later, while he is making an inspection inside a boxcar with defective air brakes, a switching engine rams the car. The force of the impact, heightened by the recent orders, throws the superintendent to the floor stunned, and starts the car on the down grade. In the few moments it is speeding along the road and there is consternation among the men for a washout down the road means that it is headed to certain destruction.

Sail away to a bygone Cornwall in this wistful coastal travelogue.

A college boy's prank imperils the life of the railroad president's son who has worked his way up to engineer in his course that starts "from the bottom." Tied to the engine, the son is speeding on a runaway engine toward the Flicker Creek bridge which has been swept away by the floods.

Animation from the Mut and Jeff series is a bit crude in it's movement and it's wife with rolling pin humor but even now it's passably amusing.

Circumstances make Helen think that Jack, the engineer and son of the road's auditor, is guilty of the theft of $50 that comes to light through a shortage in her accounts. Gypsy Joe, the real thief, gathers his followers to seek vengeance on the train crew for having thrown him off the train.
