Stina Pilbom suspects that her husband is having an affair, and when he leaves home for a "meeting" she follows him.

While working in China for Nathan Goldberg, a New York Jewish importer, Chattfield Bruce comes to admire the Robin Hood philosophy of Wong Lee, who gives to the poor all the food, clothing and money that he steals from the rich. After Chattfield informs Wong Lee of a betrayal among his gang, Wong Lee gives him a ring that is guaranteed to give the wearer the allegiance of any Chinese throughout the world.

The artist awakens. His maid brings him a letter from the Gaumont Studio. After a quick glance to it, he hastens to get dressed and runs to the studio followed by his wife, his maid and his son, Bout-de-Zan who want a part in the movie.

The new nose is still a little sore and not healed, so he hurries to Anna. She is delighted with his new prong and gives Ernst a firm hug. This doesn't do the still "soft" nose any good and it is flattened. Ernst flees and tries to save what can be saved. Then Ernst wakes up in horror: it was only a dream.

Fleming decides to make her jealous by flirting with other women. When the Huntress hears the rumors of his affairs, she soon realizes her one true love is Fleming, and they are happily reunited.

Feodor Turov, chief of the Russian Czar's secret police, orders his Cossacks to attack a village he believes to be infested with rebels. The Cossacks attack the village and massacre almost everyone, and the young Katerina is whipped to death. Before escaping to England, her sister Darya swears to avenge her sister's death. Years later--now one of the world's most famous prima ballerinas--she returns to Russia. Turov falls in love with her and manages to secure a meeting. She coyly asks him to take her to see a prison first. As it turns out, what he has planned for her is nothing compared to what she has planned for him.

Rube's and Ben's wives are waitresses. An art collector purchases a rare picture and the "picture pirate," representing himself as another collector, calls on the first collector. As he is leaving the place Rube and Ben try to pick his pockets, and admonishing them as amateurs, he tells them to join in with him and try to steal the picture. They take the art collector's wife with them to the same café wherein their wives are waitresses. Ben and Rube leave her there and hasten to her home to steal a copy of the picture, the owner having hidden the original. They also drink some poisoned whiskey left for them and fall into a fit. Later the "picture pirate" pays Rube and Ben for the picture, thinking it is the original.

Joyce is presented the $5,000 reward which she turns over to Mason, solving his problems.

A social-climbing young woman marries Robert, a rich alcoholic, for his money. Although basically a good man, when drunk Robert treats her as if she's just one more thing he owns, and not his wife. Realizing her mistake, she leaves him. Her brother-in-law believes that the two of them actually do love each other, and sets out to bring them back together.

Polly Eccles is a "ragged girl" living in a dank slum who is responsible for her sickly four-year-old brother, Billy. After a doctor advises that Billy needs a healthier climate to recover, Polly packs their few belongings and decides they will walk to California. While hitchhiking along the way with their dog, the siblings are given a lift by Kirk Drummond, a young man who happens to be driving to California himself. Upon arriving, Kirk’s wealthy father, John Drummond, is initially horrified by his son's association with the "ragged" travelers. However, the story follows Polly’s trials as she attempts to navigate this new world and ensure her brother's health.

Poverty forces Helen Shirley, a country lass, into New York in search of a living. Shy and unsophisticated, Helen falls an easy victim of the notorious band which preys upon young girls and she is easily induced to go to a boarding house which is in reality the headquarters of the gang.

Bobby Bumps invited his black neighbor to join his "lodge." But first he has to be initiated. The neighbor cleverly avoids getting rammed in the behind by Bobby's goat, but as he's running away, finds himself in a precarious position with a wild bear. Bobby saved his friend, but quickly he finds himself in an even worse situation with the bear and needs the friend to return the favor. They both agree to be initiated together, and the final joke is on Bobby's poor goat.

Gubernatorial candidate Walter Croyden is in love with Beatrice, but he acts obnoxiously when he drinks, so she flees to Europe to re-evaluate the relationship.

A young American doctor and his brother are involved in an auto accident in a foreign country. The doctor happens to catch a glance of a beautiful princess and falls immediately in love. Meanwhile, in a neighboring country, the princess' husband--a spoiled wastrel who happens to look just like the doctor--is in pursuit of a courtesan. The doctor overhears a group of army officers plotting to kill the king and put the prince on the throne. Unfortunately for the doctor, the plotters mistake him for the prince.

Carter Raymond is a New York playboy who squanders his inherited fortune. All he has left is an abandoned mine in California, so Carter goes West to work it. "Big Jim" Helton and his daughter Mary have been squatters on the mine for years, and "Placer" Murray, from an adjoining camp, has been trying to run them off. When Carter arrives, Mary shoots him, thinking he works for Murray. Mary soon realizes her mistake, and she and her father agree to nurse Carter back to health.

John Kendall was brought up in a wealthy family, but when his father loses the family fortune and then dies, John is left penniless. He joins the army and rises to the rank of sergeant. He soon meets and falls in love with Edith Ferris, the daughter of Col. Dickinson. When he talks to her at a party, Lt. Burkett upbraids him for fraternizing with an officer's family. Edith's mother, not wanting her daughter getting involved with a lowly enlisted man, conspires with Lt. Burkett to discredit John.

After binding Helen to prevent her from stopping the express train to have it await an armed guard, crooks board the train, disable the messenger and dynamite the safe. Helen later takes a short cut in an auto and overtakes the train, but the crooks leap from the speeding train into her car before she can warn the engineer and train crew.

Jessie Ridgley desires more opportunities than her small-town life with her blind mother and protective father offers. Jessie feels misunderstood and yearns for the city, while her father tries to keep her at home. Her mother, sensing the tension, realizes she couldn't survive without her daughter.
