L.C. Shumway has a dual role in this action-packed three-reeler. When the Booths divorce, their twin children (both played as adults by Shumway) are separated -- George goes with his mother and becomes a fine, upstanding young man, while Herbert takes after his father's dissolute ways. Both of them wind up serving in the Army and going to the Philippines -- George as an officer and West Point graduate, and Herbert as a lowly enlisted man who soon deserts to becomes the drunken love slave of a native girl.

When Jim is released from prison, he returns to his Chinatown neighborhood determined to lead a virtuous life. While walking, he hears a woman's cries issuing from a house and enters to investigate. In her delirium, the dying woman mistakes Jim for her nephew and entrusts him to deliver a package to her daughter.

Nell Saunders is the daughter of an innkeeper in a college town. She is loved by Glen Dale, the quarterback of the college team, and also Pierson, the fullback.

Mario Campanini, a theological student, makes the serious mistake of neglecting his young and pleasure-loving wife, Rita. Her dissatisfaction grows, until she meets the Count di Turino. The Count is very attentive and almost before she knows it Rita is infatuated with him. One night she elopes, leaving a simple note for Mario, who is stunned. At the count's home Rita is happy, for the Count is very good to her, but one day her curiosity leads her to try one of several locked doors in the castle-like home, and there she finds the Count is keeping in seclusion an insane wife. Now she knows the reason for the Count's many absences from home, during which he was supposed to be engaged in "diplomatic work." Horrified at what she has learned, Rita forlornly returns to her husband, but he sternly orders her to go back to her titled lover and stay there; she has become one of the Unforgiven. At this point Mario awakes from his terrible nightmare just as his wife smilingly enters the room.

Tom Evans lives happily with his wife and child in their little place in Arizona until he is gripped with “Gold Fever”! He heads to Cripple Creek, strikes it rich, then abandoning his family makes his way to Chicago. Twenty years pass and he longs for his old home. Returning Tom is told by his son, now a man, there is no place for him before onlookers. Later, when Tom is found lying unconscious at the bottom of the arroyo, the son is accused and arrested. But Tom has only been stunned by his fall. He testifies that it was an accident, and reconciliation is affected between him and his long-lost family.

Rene, condemned to execution for murder in the first degree tells his mother the story of the crime. His sister had been lured from home and abandoned by the villain. Desolate at first after some time she married a man who became governor but when the villain shows up again and threatens her happiness Rene kills him.

Noble born but dissolute M. Jean de Segni receives word from his lawyers that his profligate ways, including keeping mercenary actress Dorothea Jardeau, have led to his ruin which he accepts with a shrug of the shoulders. As word spreads Jean’s father-the Duke, who has managed to keep the boy’s mother in the dark about her son’s true nature, realizes she will soon know. Terminally ill and fearing Jean reducing them to penury, the father decides to take his beloved wife with him and kills her. Jean is at first suspected but the Duke saves him by confessing his guilt. Nevertheless, everyone, including his Dorothea, believes the Duke lied to save his son, and after his father's death Jean finds himself a social outcast. An argument leads to a duel where Jean realizes his folly has killed his parents, and he fires in the air, receiving a mortal wound from his adversary.

Jack Dobbs starts to gamble and dissipate when he inherits a fortune from his rich uncle. In a few years he has squandered the entire fortune and is heavily in debt to the proprietor of a gambling club. He appeals to all his friends who welcomed him while he had money, but finds they do not know him when he is penniless. Finally, in desperation he forges a check to pay his gambling debts. He is caught and sent to prison for fifteen years. At the end of his term he leaves the prison an old and broken man.

Broncho Billy and his brother are both in love with the same girl, but she decides to marry Broncho's brother. One Sunday morning an outlaw creates a panic in the church by "shooting up" the place. The sheriff, who is the girl's father, is shot when he attempts to arrest the outlaw. Broncho's brother is offered the sheriff's star, but is afraid to take it.

Grace Martin, the adopted daughter of Sheriff Martin, was rescued by him from a band of Indians when she was an infant. She is in love with Buck Gibson. Grace asks the Sheriff's consent to marry Buck, and his thoughts revert back to the time when he saved Grace from Indians. He gives his consent to Grace's request to marry Gibson, and Grace runs away happy to tell her lover of the good news. That night Buck Gibson and some pals rob the town bank, and Buck is identified as one of the bandits.

Jones is a traveling salesman -- or drummer, as they were known in those days -- who peddles Bibles and playing cards at a discount. Along with Professor Goodly, he goes to a prize fight which is raided by the police. The two men wind up at a boarding school for young ladies where Jones is mistaken for the Bishop of Timbuctoo.

Heléne Dearing relates that her proud father John left England after being exposed as a card cheat and became a whiskey runner near a Canadian lumber camp.

A burglar enters a darkened house to rob. A young wife, home alone, phones her husband at the club, begging him to come home. He returns stinking drunk and the decent-hearted burglar must intervene.

Hazel, a cashier in a restaurant, is engaged to Patsy, a bus driver. Patsy earns some extra money by going in on preliminary bouts at the Athletic Club pugilistic exhibitions, and gains a local reputation as a boxer. When a big fighter is suddenly taken ill on the eve of a public contest, Patsy substitutes, wins the match, and suddenly finds himself in line for a bout with the champion of the world. On receipt of an offer for a long tour, he gets a swelled head and repudiates Hazel, who is forced to go back to work in the restaurant. She plans to get even with Patsy.

Café singer Florence Burgess, a café singer secretly supports her lame sister Frances, one day she catches the eye of theatrical manager Oscar Morse, who offers her an engagement. However, when they meet, he makes inappropriate advances, which Florence rejects. Out of work after her café closes, Florence tricks Morse by getting him drunk and having him sign a substitute contract, starring her in a show called "The Green Goddess." Now successful and using the stage name Flo Burke she takes a rest at a country hotel. She meets and falls in love with Fenton, a minister whose earlier efforts led to the closure of her old café. Unaware of her true identity, Fenton tells her about his missionary work. Florence keeps her identity secret, saying she is the sister of Flo Burke, and falls in love with him. After hearing Fenton preach, Florence decides to leave the stage, but Morse demands a large forfeit, effectively binding her to her theatrical contract.

The tragic, wandering journey of Mignon, the daughter of the nobleman Lothario and the Gypsy Musette, who is kidnapped by her mother's father, Giarno, after her mother's death. Mignon falls in love with the student Wilhelm, but he is infatuated with the actress Filina. After a fire and a mistaken engagement, Mignon leaves with Lothario, only to be recognized by an innkeeper who returns Lothario's lost memory. The film concludes with Lothario recovering his mind and Mignon and Wilhelm vowing to marry.

The parents of a wealthy young man arrange for him to marry a woman he has never seen. When he meets and falls for a young woman he convinces his valet to switch places. The idea is that the valet will make a bad impression on the fiance, the wedding will canceled and the hero can marry his true love. There is only one problem, his love and unseen fiance are the same woman.

Frank Perry's wife Helen is away visiting her mother, and he uses this "free time" for a night of drinking at a nightclub. Unfortunately, when he tries to return home, he enters the wrong house and is nearly arrested When Helen comes back he tells her that the "incident" was actually an initiation rite of the Masons, knowing that his wife has always wanted him to join the group. She excitedly tells her father about Frank's becoming a Mason, since her father is also a Mason. What neither she nor Frank know is that her father has actually been doing the same thing Frank is--pretending to be a Mason when he actually isn't. Complications ensue.

Grinde is a junior partner of a pottery firm. An old chemist, Benjamin Lord, discovers a formula for glazing pottery that is designed to revolutionize the industry. The chemist's grandson, David, takes a sample of the new process to Grinde, who says he will give it consideration. He delegates his foreman, Mole, to steal the formula.

Paul Sturgess is engaged to Grace Van Austin. At a party at their Newport home, Grace flirts with Howard Esterbrook leading to a fight between the two men. Later that night, a servant witnesses Paul, with a revolver entering Esterbrook's room. The servant follows, sees a hand emerging from a window curtain, stab Esterbrook then vanish mysteriously. Paul is arrested based on circumstantial evidence. Six months later, a woman known as "The Woman of Mystery" is shot during a raid while trying to assist the police. Moved by hearing about Paul's denied pardon and impending execution, the "Woman of Mystery" reveals information to the detective leading the raid. This revelation leads to a call to the Sing Sing Warden just in time to halt Paul's electrocution.

A rich contractor sends his son to supervise the building of a new dam. His clothes are stolen by a tramp and dressed in the tramp's clothes he's mistaken for a laborer.

Na-Ta-Wan-Gan, a Hudson Bay fur trapper, falls in love with Janet Mackintosh, the daughter of the factor at the trading post who has been promised to the deceitful Henri Drouet. After stealing skins from Mr. Mackintosh with the help of Red Pete, Henri hides the evidence in the mailbag of Janet's brother Robert. Caught with the stolen goods, Robert is declared guilty and sentenced to la longe traverse, a three-day journey into the wilderness.

Mr. Carlson of Arizona comes to New York where he is summarily swindled out of his funds and deserted by all his new “friends.” An anonymous friend out West learning of his plight offers him a position as engineer in a construction camp. After a few more travails he discovers his patron is Agnes, the girl he has come to love, and they are united in wedlock.

Tillie Todd gifts her wealthy Aunt Sally a dime-store tomato pincushion, falsely claiming it’s handmade. Cousin Percy exposes the lie, vying for Sally’s favor. At Sally’s birthday, Tillie’s suitor “The Bat” crash-lands his flying invention, inspiring Sally to take flight herself. Declared dead after vanishing for days, she wills Tillie the pincushion but leaves most of her estate to her pet monkey Jim, with Percy as eventual heir. Percy kidnaps Jim to hasten his fortune, framing Tillie for the crime. Pursued by police, Tillie is saved when Sally returns alive. In frustration, Tillie tears apart the despised pincushion—only to discover it stuffed with $10,000.

A couple hatch a novel plan to rob a bank: they'll crawl down a heating duct and use a vaccum cleaner to suck the money out of the vault.

Years ago Peggy Sloane, only daughter of old Cornelius Sloane, familiarly known as the Professor, an antique dealer, met millionaire art dealer Stuart Watson and was prevailed by his hypnotic power to go through a marriage ceremony with him. A week passed and she returned, broken in spirit and body. Later, when her baby was born, she died. One night, while playing chess, old Sloane learns of the return to America of this man Watson and resolves to be revenged.

Wealthy young broker Tom Raine is set upon in a lonely wood by a tramp, knocked out, and stripped of his clothes. Dressed in the tramp's rags, he reaches a hut in time to save veritable wood-nymph June from a beating at the hands of her cruel foster parents. They drive him from the place, but June saves him from being torn to pieces by their huge watchdog, and Tom falls deeply in love with June. They're seen talking by her foster parents, and the father goes after Tom with a club. A fearful fight results, but the timely arrival of Tom's family, who saw the affair from their auto, stops a tragedy. Tom explains matters, his family taking a liking to June, she returns home with them, and Tom and June marry.

Tom and Dick are good friends, but they are both in love with the same young woman, Vera. Vera herself cannot decide which of the two suitors she prefers. Realizing that Vera cannot make up her mind, the two young men turn to their friend Bill Bush for help. After thinking it over, Bill suggests an unusual contest to see which one gets to ask Vera to marry him.

Bill, a cowpuncher, who wants to get married, answers an ad in a matrimonial journal.

Miriam, daughter of wealthy politician John Barker is engaged to reporter George Prescott. Prescott is assigned to expose gambling conditions and discovers Barker is a grafter. Miriam doesn’t believe Prescott and breaks the engagement only to fall victim to gambling fever. When she is arrested in a raid on a gaming house her father sees the error of his ways and becomes a reform candidate of the "Clean-up" party. He wins and George and Miriam reunite.

Cecil Weatherby, travelling in the Arabian desert, comes upon a hidden and secret city. There he finds love in the form of a beautiful priestess, Ameera. Their love results in their being condemned to death, but even in the City of Death, love will find a way.

Broncho Billy, the sheepman, goes to the village store and purchases an engagement ring for his sweetheart, the school teacher. As he is about to mount his horse, he finds a note pinned to the saddle, telling him to leave the country that only cow men are desired. On his way home he is fired upon by the cattle king and his gang. Broncho Billy returns the fire wounding the leader, but also is wounded himself. He goes to the school house, where he is protected by his sweetheart until help arrives. In the meantime the wounded cattle king has been picked up unconscious by Broncho Billy's parents.

A family is attacked by Indians, the father killed and son captured. The widow remarries and her stepdaughter, Mabel, encourages her stepbrother to find his lost half-brother. Dick, influenced by a gambler, gambles away his money and tries to exploit Mabel, prompting her to join the search with a gambler she meets, Jack. They discover the brother is now an Indian chief, leading to further complications.
