Because her father breaks her engagement to a young man, Jane, a spoiled girl of luxury, retires to a country hospital of which her father is a director, in order to sulk and give vent to her feelings.

At the palatial home of a merchant the latter's wife entertains her husband's friends. The guests have all departed save one, the husband's most intimate and trusted friend. That this man should abuse the confidence of his friend and attempt to force his attentions upon the wife was a thing the merchant deemed little call to fortify against.

Frank Graham, rich mine owner, is fatally injured by an explosion. On his death bed he confides to his friend, Jim Blake, all his plans concerning his daughter, Angela's, future. He makes him promise to watch over her. His fortune he places in the hands of his brother, a New York banker, to be held in trust for his daughter until her wedding day; the fact of her being an heiress to be kept secret in order to insure her safety from fortune-hunters.

Sally Brent, a pretty laundry girl, believes in palmistry and is told by a charlatan that the man who affects purple as his colors is her affinity and soul mate. She is loved by Dan Maguire, driver of the laundry wagon, but he is very fond of red, which causes Sally much grief as she thinks a lot of Dan. One day she does up a bundle of shirts in which the color purple predominates. She writes a message on one of the cuffs, calling the owner her "soul mate."

Fired with a chivalric impulse, Octavius proffered his services in the recovery of the missing jewelry. When Julia heard he was coming, she took the jewels out of her jewelry box and hid them.

While her mother is ensconced in the hospital, her little daughter, Ruth, wanders aimlessly through the corridors and strikes up an acquaintance with Mr. Swift, a wealthy clubman, who is convalescing.

Hugo's valet see's his opportunity to strengthen his position. The film was banned in Denmark. Instead it opened in Finland.

Fatty steals a ride on a train, discovered, and put off in the middle of nowhere. He stumbles along over the hot desert and finally passes out. A very plump Indian woman finds him and takes him to her tepee, woos him and finally, in desperation, Fatty agrees to marry her. While the tribe is preparing for the marriage ceremony, Fatty attempts to escape but is caught.

During the Franco-Prussian War, Jean Renyea wins the love of Helene, thus incurring the enmity of Pierre, her hunchbacked suitor.

Young Jack Lewis is in love with Anna Mason, the sister of Sheriff Jim Mason. Jack is framed for a murder actually committed by a villainous bandit. After being imprisoned for the crime, Jack manages to escape. In a series of high-action sequences—including a spirit-filled defense of a cabin and a stagecoach holdup—Jack saves Anna and a stash of gold. Jack's name is eventually cleared when the true villain provides a confession, proving his innocence.

Drink makes a brute of Broncho Billy and he does not realize what he is doing when under its influence. His wife and children are mortally afraid of him when he is in this condition and keep out of his way. At the saloon one day he provokes a quarrel with the one doctor of the town and wounds him with a shot from his gun.

FRAGMENT | These recordings were part of Valdemar Psilander’s live performance at the Royal Orfeum in Budapest, in February and March 1914. Psilander financed the show himself, and it was a mixture of film and theatre under the title Count Dahlborg’s Secret. The film footage, which unfortunately hasn’t been preserved in its entirety, opened the performance, after which Psilander himself rode onto the stage and continued the action. (stumfilm.dk)

The young clerk Poul Wang is squandering his fortune on festive pleasures while being shadowed by a mysterious unknown figure. The following day, payment is due and Poul has to clandestinely visit a local loan shark. The growing interest rates tempt Poul to steal from his workplace, but he is discovered by a watchful colleague. In desperation, he robs his own family’s savings, narrowly avoiding being fatally shot by his own wife, who mistakes him for a common burglar. Great-grandfather Huxley, an old soldier, is neglected by his grandson and wife. He feels he is in the way and seriously contemplates suicide. One night while the grandson's wife is giving a party, the house catches fire and the old man rescues their children from the burning building.

Hello, Mabel (also known as On a Busy Wire) is a 1914 American short silent comedy film directed by Mack Sennett.

Burkhart, a prominent business man, owner of a leading mercantile establishment, and the popular candidate for governor on the Citizens' ticket, becomes impressed with the ability of James McNair, a young attorney, and engages him to look after his legal business.

It has been arranged between the fathers that their children shall marry. When the young people meet, the intended husband, who is somewhat rakish in appearance, falls desperately in love with the girl, but she spurns him. He bribes two young men to kidnap the girl, in order that he may play the hero and rescue her. However, he does not know that one of the "kidnappers" is the young man whom Mabel really is in love with, and his confidential friend, who, of course, delight in the deception.

Much to the delight of the simple old father, his daughter becomes engaged to a big-hearted mountaineer. He builds their hut in the wilderness, and she is happy, though she often dreams of the great world outside. Then comes the intruder from the city, a man of the world. He obtains hoard at the girl's home. He blinds her eyes to the beautiful things of the; woods with his talk of pretty places and things of the great world without. He tempts and wins her away from the big-hearted backwoodsman. The young mountaineer, who has been working on his cabin, returns and finds the old man dozing and the girl gone.

A Duel for Love is a 1914 dramatic short.

Patsy, the cook of the "Flying U" ranch, is passionately fond of canned corn. Every time he goes to town to buy supplies for the camp, cases of canned corn head the list. Patsy may forget at times to order a special brand of tobacco for the boys, or some of the trimmings that go to make a camp dinner more acceptable, but he never fails to order the canned corn.

Long before he was the subject of a Walt Disney TV miniseries, Revolutionary-era guerilla leader Francis Marion, aka the Swamp Fox, was the "star" of this three-reel Kalem costume drama. The first part of the film ends as Marion and his followers capture English general Gates right from under the noses of the "Redcoats." The closing scenes find Marion and company emerging victorious from a battle between the British and the Colonials at the DeMotte farm.

James Finney, a would-be actor, is discharged from the Gaiety Theater and thrown bodily into the street.

That very fall she had a severe attack of photomania. She had the old folks posing for pictures half the time, and when she developed them you could almost tell which was which.

Old Carl Stockdale is an habitual drunkard and the cause of much unhappiness to his daughter, Marguerite. Broncho Billy meets Stockdale's charming daughter and becomes very much interested in her, and realizes the sad state of affairs in the home on account of the father's failing.

Counters Betty Ardmore inherits from an uncle a large mining property in the United States. At the advice of her counselor she comes to America to personally superintend the conduct of her property. Her brother, a dissolute fellow, is left out of the inheritance, but at his solicitation and promise to reform, she takes him with her.

Marguerite becomes weary as the hours and the Overland Limited roll on. Her trip from New York to the far west was a tedious one, and it is with a sigh of relief that she steps from the observation platform to pluck some flowers. The train had stopped for water. Marguerite wanders into the woods and when she returns, discovers that the train had pulled off. She is alone in a new country, without friends or funds.

Constance and Billy are sweethearts. Mr. and Mrs. Boggs, her parents, are both prim, straitlaced people. Pa Boggs has little use for young men of the present generation and when Billy awkwardly drops a race-track badge on the floor, Boggs rises up in his wrath and orders the "perfidious gambler" from his house forever.
