A country that straddles the line between funny and serious. In the episodes of the series, as guest stars, well-known faces from the small screen and entertainment appear and are satirized, as well as characters from jokes that we have all heard and told. The script is written by Gerasimos Pittaras and directed by Thanasis Naskaris.

The documentary describes the preparation for the staging of Euripides’ tragedy Alcestis at the ancient theater of Epidaurus, during the 2017 Epidaurus Festival. This documentation accentuates the Festival’s ambiance, as well as the theater’s grandeur. At the same time, the film highlights the special virtues an actor should master in order to meet the demands of this special place; lastly, the film also reveals the limitations set by the space itself to the performances that can be staged in Epidaurus.

In the course of several months, a camera is recording the relationships built between dogs and inmates, during an innovative program introduced by the non-profit organization Save A Greek Stray, and executed (in a pilot phase) at the Women’s Prison of Eleona-Thebes. Square of the Unseen moves through this hidden world, where lives on the margins leave their silent marks: handwritten passages etched onto urban surfaces, whispers of despair, resilience, and fleeting hope. Through these words and images of a city in constant transit, the film reveals an Athens of shadows, ghosts, and truths rarely seen.

Filmed over ten years, ‘work / memories of work’ documents the last days of a tannery in the area of Eleonas, in Athens. The long, monotonous shifts of the tanners are set against a backdrop of work in the surrounding neighbourhoods – scavengers’ markets, old farmhouses, abandoned kilns, and people labouring away amid factory ruins. What emerges is a portrait of a place, its present image, and its histories of labour. Written on postcards which were never sent, the narration is a polyphonic poem with fragments of testimony, collective memory, ethnographic and literary works that traverse centuries: in ancient times, Eleonas was a vast olive grove; in the nineteenth century an infrastructural hub, and more recently an industrial zone.
