Educational documentary by Robiros Manthoulis, Fotis Mestheneou and Iraklis Papadakis, shot under the archaeological guidance of Yiannis Miliadis, Director of the Acropolis Museum, who is also the narrator. It is a wonderfully consistent mapping of the Acropolis space, in the objects, the spaces, the iconography, the connection with history and tradition. From the opening moments and the presentation of the complexity and specificity of the location of the Acropolis, and through the presentation of every impressive detail, but also of a wider artistic context, the film takes us on a journey through time connecting the centuries of glory of Athenian history with today, with the monument framed not only as the shining relic of an old civilization, but also in its current location, above a large, modern city.

Who are the people who clean the roads of the world? Why are the majority of them women and immigrants? The well-traveled show “Clean City” of the Onassis Foundation Stegi becomes a hybrid film. Four separate directors follow the tour of the show to four cities - Skopje, Sarajevo, Montpellier, Istanbul. Immigrant cleaners, stars of the show but also of their real lives, talk about their experiences, touch on the subject of racism in terms of what is “pure”, the danger of fascism, female immigration and sexual abuse. An anthology film somewhere between documentary and fiction, having as its starting point the filmed theatre play by Anestis Azas and Prodromos Tsinikoris.

The psyche of Athens through the transfer, the relocation of the National Library. The dominant old building of the National Library in the centre of Athens, with its neoclassical style pillars, tries to remind us of the Golden Age of Pericles and the sages of ancient Greece. But few of the residents seem to be interested in it. The preparations for the transfer of the books, ‘victims’ of looting and wear, have begun. In a city that looks like a battlefield we witness both the transfer and the city, which in its unrest remains exciting. And also, we get to hear the voice of the National Library, connecting the past with the present, wondering about the future.

The story takes place near the famous Ancient Corinth (around the mid-4th century BCE), referring to its two harbours (named Lechaion and Kenchreae). Several ships, avoiding the dangerous travel around the whole of Peloponnese, were transferred from the Corinth Golf to the Golf of Saronikos, on top of an eight-wheel vehicle dragged along a stone-paved road (the “Diolkos”), almost parallel to the actual Corinth-Canal. The film describes several technical details of the whole operation, as well as various events such as the visits of the sailors to an ancient Greek Temple and to a tavern, where a hypothetically available Hydraulis (water organ) was played, or to a public fountain encountered along the Diolkos.

A film about time, memory, and nostalgia. A film about the beauty of archeology and excavation, conveyed through the post-mortem portrait of archeologist Yannis Sakellarakis. A journey in search of a man who is no longer present, through the traces he left in the places he visited and the people he met. A cinematic excavation that brings to light an image through fragments and traces, just like archeology does.

The different traditions interfere with the details, but their fire is the same. It is an undeniable fact that Saint Maria lived during the Ottoman domination and even during the time of the tyranny of Epirus Ali Pasha (1788 - 1822 AD). She was a girl of great beauty. But her physical beauty was in accord with the beauty of her soul. Her ornaments were modesty, piety and temperance. Although at a very young age, she had a mature thought. She resisted all the pleasures that sweet and sly come to destroy the youthful souls. She had decided to devote herself entirely to God. She came from a village in Ioannina. According to tradition, Ali's Pasha's spy saw the Holy Koris, and was surprised by her beauty. He ordered with great secrecy to circle her monastery, capture her and carry her to his palace. But God did not leave this youthful soul helpless.

Girls of the Rain concludes Alida Dimitriou’s filmtrilogy on the contribution of women to political struggles in Greece during the twentieth century. The film is about women imprisoned and tortured during the Colonels’ dictatorship of 1967-1974. At the time, these womenwere in their twenties. Fifty women offer their testimonials. They all share the ethos of the women who took part in the National Resistance, and pursue the establishment of human dignity just as persistently. The “Girls of the Rain” consider themselves successors of those women. One of them said:“...we are their successors, just like the youth of today are our successors”. Remarkably, these are the words of a woman deprived by her torturers of the ability to have children.
