Popeye gives him some spinach, but before the bird can eat it, Popeye is captured by Indians. They tie him to a stake. The turkey, watching, remembers the spinach, which turns the turkey into an eagle. He swoops down, carries off the first batch of Indians and throws them into a mountain; he turns another batch into a totem pole. Popeye finishes his story and sees the boys missing; dinner time! They prepare to serve the turkey his big plate of spinach.

This proves just how hard-working the little red hen really is...not many would do that much work just to be able to make a bad pun.

What there is is a master criminal named Shlobotka doing some after-hours midnight work at the bank and, being somewhat cocky, he places a call to the police station just to let them know what he is up to. Clancy (the bulldog) answers the phone and then crawls into the phone in pursuit of Shlobotka.

The city-slicker mouse, Herman, takes his bumpkin country cousins for a night on the town at a penny arcade. Katnip the cat, Herman's long-time nemesis, is present and spoiling the party so Herman floats him away with some hydrogen-filled balloons. But the pesky Katnip returns and after some furious cat-and-mouse games, utilizing all the slot machines and games in the arcade, Katnip ends up as the loser, ending up as the target in the shooting gallery.

Gandy Goose has been studying his mail-order acting kit, and goes to visit his friend, Rudy Rooster, to show off his mimic skills. Rudy is unimpressed as his attention is more on another rooster who is bidding to replace Rudy as the ruler-of-the-roost in the hen-house. He gets Gandy to disguise himself as a fox and raid the hen-house, and Rudy will show up and run him off and be a hero of the hens. But...there is already a real fox in the barnyard and he has no intention of being run of by a rooster.

Popeye, Olive, and Swee'pea take their pig, Smedley, to the fair to enter it in the livestock show. While Popeye is distracted, Swee'pea crawls off following his balloon and narrowly avoids all sorts of peril (that Popeye, close behind, manages to get caught by).
