Eifel landlady Toni Janssen has the blues. The unexpected single life is just as depressing as the decline of the "Kupferkanne" without the cooking skills of her "ex". The otherwise tough restaurant owner would prefer to crawl under the comforter all day! But giving up is out of the question for her mother Heidi. The fact that the Janssen women have been making it on their own for generations is their motto in life anyway. The best example: Heidi's newly opened guesthouse, which is often fully booked! It's not just business success that has a rejuvenating effect on the optimistic woman in her mid-fifties. Ron, the gardener hired by the investment-happy business founder, surprises her with his charming advances. What Heidi initially finds hard to believe soon sends her into a frenzy of love.

Severely battered from the Beirut Port Explosion on August 4th, Minerva passed away eight days later. Her son Joseph, while still grieving for his loss, sunk into a long and absurd bureaucratic path through the inept system that disowned his mother as a victim of the blast. Minerva is gone. The explosion has snatched her soul, and the city walls have not yet recognized her as a martyr. There is no poster of her smiling face among those of the victims. Their faces are memories that will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Perhaps her son, devastated by her passing, seeks to etch her image into the city's memory. Perhaps he is seeking some confession to the crime. This is a place that casts out its children, whether dead or alive.

On one side of the Iron Curtain and on the other, throughout the Cold War, the USSR and the United States sought to shape children’s imaginations through their magazines and films. Never in the history of mankind have so many comic books been published and so many cartoons produced for young people. In November 1989, communism collapsed with the Berlin Wall; capitalism was left to decide the future of the world. What if this victory had been prepared for a long time, and our thinking conditioned, from our early childhood, to ensure this absolute triumph?
