The Blueberry War is an underdog story about some underprivileged berry pickers getting cheated off their money, taking justice into their own hands. Two young Polish guys take the initiative to take the berries back and under their run away trough the rural Sweden they meet a country that is much different from the official picture. This is a story on two levels. On the upper level there is illegal hunting, intrigues and political dribbling with stocks, fake deal and plans how to get the fingers on a 5 million Euro subsidy. On the lower level in the story, we have the berry pickers who, allied with some of the locals, start the quest of finding both the treasure, the kingdom and getting a delightful revenge. And all that's available is a ton of rotten blueberries.

This is one of the most enjoyable opera produced. The playful production by Paul Curran (Teatro Lirico di Cagliari [Sardinia]) has a wealth of clever touches, and the sets and costumes are lovely, whimsical, imaginative, and wonderfully captured. T The libretto for "Cherubin" (1905), an homage to Beaumarchais and da Ponte, takes up the story of the character Cherubino from Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" and shows him suffering his first great disappointment in love, his rejection by the courtesan/dancer Ensoleillad. All ends happily, however, as Cherubin finds his real destiny in Nina, a girl his own age. The story is tightly constructed, the text full of wit and humor in lighter moments and rapturous poetry in the love scenes, and the DVD's subtitles are expertly handled.

Miyuki tells the story of the McKenzie's, an American family who take in a young female Japanese exchange student. Leaving his family alone with Miyuki, Liam takes refuge at his eccentric uncle's home. Events turn for the worse at the McKenzie's as Miyuki's presence stirs up a painful past. Haunted by tragic visions from her childhood and images from a tragedy many hundreds of years ago Miyuki's dark past is slowly revealed. As Miyuki feels she is losing her adopted family once again she can no longer fight her urge to destroy what she cannot have. Through an unknown connection the McKenzie's fate is tied to that of Miyuki's.

The do-it-yourself film lab Atelier MTK in Grenoble, France is the cradle of the performance group Metamkine, but also for instance of Lafoxe. Etienne Caire and Gaëlle Rouard are the driving forces behind the lab and have developed a 16mm performance with its very own signature. The basic material for Lafoxe came from old Hollywood films. After extensive processing in the lab, these bits and pieces are put on the silver screen again using several film projectors at once. The result is a dynamic form of widescreen, which they have dubbed hyperscope. The sound is a live mix of the original optical soundtracks.

Beginning in the pitch-black early hours of a September morning, the film follows a 14hr 17min cross-channel relay swim that I made along with my brothers Mark and Joey, a friend Ian Dale, the actor and comedian Sean Lock (Smart Alek and co-writer of This Filthy Earth) and the actor Tchili (This Filthy Earth and Ivul). The attempt was witnessed by the writer and wordsmith Iain Sinclair and is narrated by Eden Kötting. The film came about in 2006 (the 10 year anniversary since the release of the original film Gallivant) and the chance discovery of a boat called The Gallivant, which offered to shadow us across the Channel as a support vessel. Flotsam and jetsam in the form of conversations, field recordings and the voices of Gladys and Eden from the original film invade. The film shows scenes of explicit vomiting.

Taking all the children at the same time seems too dangerous to her, so she leaves her two youngest in the hope of catching them up later, in the care of grandparents. In post-war Poland, she sets out in search of them, but she no longer succeeds in uniting them all. Only now, in this documentary, a reunion takes place. And there are five stories about the common family history audible that is so incredible, but not rare...
