Screenwriter Edward B. Sherman directs this indie treat.

Warsaw at night. Two young people, Eve and Chicor, are walking through the city after a wild party. Both have had something to drink. The girl coquets her partner, provokes with the promise of a "reward" for a nice evening. Chicor accepts the challenge and walks Eve home. The girl invites the boy to her apartment. A few minutes pass drinking wine and increasingly frivolous flirting. Everything seems to be moving towards a rapprochement. But this night will not end with easy, non-committal sex. Both parties are hiding under different masks. Eve is amused, seems confident and consistent in her ambiguous game with her boyfriend. Sometimes she resists her admirer, at other times she provokes and tempts him again. Chicory is intrigued by the girl's behavior, but slowly realizes that Eve is not just another prey, a woman for one night.

Basse Normandie is based on actual events. Protagonists Simon Reggiani and Patricia Mazuy are also husband and wife in real life. They filmed the creation of one of Simon’s plays, and then reenacted some of the events surrounding it. Simon prepares for a one-man show that he will perform largely on horseback, including dressage. The local government of the region hopes to use the play to improve its image; with government’s support, it’s decided that Simon will perform the play before an audience of over 1,700 farmers during an agricultural congress in Paris. The director of a large stud farm provides Simon with rehearsal space. What follows is the path that Reggiani had to take in order to create his performance — a path filled with obstacles ranging from uncooperative stable staff and a grumpy horse to vocal problems. An intriguing and occasionally absurd mixture of filmed theater, a making-of documentary, mockumentary and dressage lesson.

One of the most charming British bands of the last decade, Supergrass managed to fit in everywhere but not be part of any scene. Supergrass Is 10 - The Best of 94-04 reminds us just how many catchy hits they had from their breakthrough Brit-Pop anthem 'Alright' to new single 'Kiss of Life'. In no particular order, the 21 songs here (including two new ones & an old B-side) cover catchy pop ('Alright', 'Grace', 'Sun Hits the Sky'), slick retro-rock ('Pumping on Your Stereo', 'Seen the Light', 'Going Out'), spikey punk-rock ('Caught by the Fuzz', 'Richard III', 'Lenny') & gentle acoustic numbers ('Moving', 'Late in the Day'). EMI. 2004.

The Golden Gate is a well-known children's rhyme, but also an ancient image of the Last Judgment, when souls pass through the golden gate into another world and, before being admitted, are fought over by an angel and a devil, good and evil. In the spirit of this analogy, the film tells a compelling contemporary story about an unconventional love affair. Eva Štanglová is a university professor. After a failed marriage, her husband has just left her and moved in with his Italian mistress. Eva feels betrayed and completely alone. There is someone close to her who is just as lonely. He is a Moldovan guest worker, working as a bricklayer on scaffolding outside Eva's window.
