between the morning and the handbag was filmed at the first light of day when the sun leaves no shadows. A roll of 35mm film captures these four minutes in which the warm light changes into white. A naked figure, appears limbless, as it sits on the edge of a large boulder facing the sea. This body is sculptural in its motionless, its humanity betrayed only by its breathing. The gradual changing of light, the slow movement of the water, and the handbag that marks the highly contemporary moment, all subvert the apparent timelessness and otherworldliness of the image. This project was made in 2002 in the south of Norway.

Shot on a small island above the artic circle, this one minute film uncovers an unreal landscape. Each presentation of the film is a new tale. El sueno de una cosa (the dream of a thing) is a game that produces new stories each time it is played; these are the stories of a film in a permanent pre-production stage.

An animation based on reality. Maomao lives in an era when Coca-Cola is deeply rooted in people's hearts. This drink is not just a drink here. Behind it is the powerful economic and cultural background of the West. It represents the characteristics of this era very well. The materials of the "Beijing City" she built herself include old tiles from old houses that are about to be demolished, as well as scattered small toys, Chinese lucky cats and foreign "Garfield" that is well-known in China, many Coke cans, and Erguotou bottles, which represent the preferences of a specific group in China, and this is a large group. Maomao's summer records the development of the times, the growth of the city of Beijing, and the changes in people's perspectives in this era that are unconsciously and involuntarily changing.

For 25 years, Avron Coleman performed cello with the New York Philharmonic, as well as in numerous important string quartets. Retiring in 1997, this active, talkative, prolific, fascinating man still plays, and recounts tales of music and of his own life in music. The film contains lots of beautiful music by Schubert, Bach, Schumann, Brahms, and others.

This is the city at night, the truest city. Night opens another window in people's inner world. Perhaps the city at night is too mysterious and perhaps the inner world of people is too profound, so we can't get to know all about the city. I have tried to approach her by image to express my feelings and confusions towards her, yet the city in the darkness, despite her trueness, is both blurred to the eye and blurred to the ear. She is very close to our life, but far away from our innermost world.

This digital video arose from the idea of trying to transfer to film all the photographic images I had created with the so-called “photo-finish” technique. While in the process of completing it, I used single frame digital animation to shoot the faces and their sudden transformations when subjected to the photo-finish technique, transferring them, then imparting motion to them in a single animated sequence on the computer. This agitation, torn from photographic fixity [is] subjected, in turn, to distortion by its intersection with objects texture-mapped with those same faces. The passage from motionless quiet to paroxysmal interference; the animating startle of Bach’s cello.

"Hilda Humana Hilst" is a documentary that explores the life and work of writer Hilda Hilst, one of the most enigmatic figures in Brazilian literature. Combining interviews, archival footage, and testimonials from friends and scholars, the film outlines the author's journey, from her poetic and theatrical works to her more experimental writings. In addition to addressing her literary production, the film also delves into her philosophical and spiritual aspects and the influence she had on her contemporaries.

"This is the half hour film I made about my neighbor, Mister Butch, the exiled king of Kenmore Square, who lived in Allston MA USA at the same time I did, except that I had a roof over my head and he didn't. True to his word, Mister Butch died in the street in 2007. He was missed by many. I flew back to Boston for his memorial parade, I think there were like 1000 people in the street. To make this little no budget movie I had help from Amy Whitten, Jenny Tse, Jennet Cook, Star Nigro, James Ryan, and Nathan Lewis Hughes, among others."

This elegantly crafted and inspiring profile is affectionately devoted to magician, inventor, poet and polymath Jerry Andrus, best known as one of the world's greatest 3-D illusionists. Andrus, who died three years later in 2007 at the age of 89, was a polymath and autodidact whose restlessly inquisitive and spritely mind finds generous expression throughout the film. The film follows Andrus through his “Castle of Chaos” home in Albany, Oregon, where he shares his inventions, muses philosophically about the nature of human fulfillment, and articulates a kind of ethics at work in his magic-making. “I can fool you,” he says, “because you’re human.

A 35mm film composed almost entirely within an old Mitchell camera over the course of 14 months. Since it's so easy to lose where you're at and what your doing when shooting improvisational stop-motion, it was shot to sound map made from Holst's "Mars, Bringer of War," in order to give the visuals long-form structure. It was designed to run silently as a loop on large-scale exterior video panels of Seahawks Stadium in Seattle. The credits occur in the middle because of the loop design, with the first frames interlaced with the last, so it could silently cycle on and on through the night.

This film is about Alexander Orlov, a resident of Soviet intelligence, who disappeared without a trace in Spain in 1938. For more than thirty years, “KGB militants” have been looking for him in order to destroy a man who was involved in most major world operations, in particular, in the export of all gold reserves from Spain to the USSR and the development of an operation to destroy Leon Trotsky.
