Maria Stuarda is a searingly dramatic setting of Friedrich Schiller’s play about Mary, Queen of Scots, and her political and personal rivalry with Queen Elizabeth I of England. While based relatively closely on historical characters and events, the opera’s central scene is fictional: the highly emotional meeting of the queens that concludes the first act (originally invented by Schiller) never took place. It’s a dramatic device that brilliantly highlights the two women’s contrasting characters.

Two hired killers, fed up with the killing, decide to jump into The Dope Game. On a seemingly simple trafficking job, the two killers fly to Texas. The job: drive to a small border town to buy $100,000 worth of heroin from a Mexican drug lord and transport it back to California safely. A charming and meditative ode to the city of Madrid, where Guzmán studied directing and filmmaking during the 1960s, and escaped to from Chile after the military coup. Ottavio Mai understood that if homosexuality isn't represented in this society dedicated to shows and the media which is slowly but surely taking over, then its representation is fundamental, it is the only sign, the only proof of existence. Therefore, he fills the void. With his films which, although poor and consciously making use of new electronic means, range from documentaries to traditional fiction, from poetic short films to experimental films, and which talk directly, without mediation, about gays, transvestites, couples, families, betrayals, battuage, and homosexual normality, touching every genre, like nobody had ever dared to do in Italy before.

Uncle Henk Stubbe is a grumpy and antisocial man in his fifties who lives on welfare because he receives no money from his manager, Koos Korswagen. Uncle Henk is very hot-tempered and lashes out at the slightest provocation. He also frequently finds himself in precarious situations, sometimes without having asked for them, but usually because he makes no effort to avoid them. He almost always attempts to resolve these situations with violence. He also often thinks that he does everything right and that others do everything wrong, while he is actually the troublemaker.

Called "an elegant documentary" by Sundance and "eloquent and deeply moving" by the LA Times, Toyo Miyatake: Infinite Shades of Gray is a penetrating portrait of this photographer's search for truth and beauty in a world of impermanence. Los Angeles' Little Tokyo's foremost studio photographer, Miyatake smuggled a lens and film holder into the U.S. WWII camp he was incarcerated in and captured life behind barbed wire with a makeshift camera made of scrap wood. Yet it was his little-known artistic pursuits before the war that honed his discerning eye.
