"A Room With the Walls Blasted to Shreds and Falling" is a non-narrative videotape shot entirely in and around central Ohio. This tape was shot over a two week period but means to document a “day” in the life of the Midwest—it begins at swim team practice at 8:00am and ends after midnight in the parking lot of an all-night grocery store. It is a series of idiosyncratic sequences which suggest a certain sense of extreme in the gestures of the everyday. A man waits for his flight in the airport. A teenage girl walks through her sub-division to meet a friend. An older woman washes her hair in the sink. A young boy sits on the floor playing video games. A plane flies overhead. Clouds shift. Cars move across the overpass. A grocery store is open all night.

Heavily inspired by films like Pi and Matrix, I tried to tell the story of a man who is about to lose his sense, perception and connection with reality. The Germans canceled the experiment and ordered the chemicals dumped in a lake in Sweden called Önsjön. During the mission, the Swedish military open fire at the German soldiers and the bottom of the lake became a Nazi grave. 30 years later, some teenagers are going to a music festival at Önsjön during their summer break. Party, beers and naked bathing - it seemed to be a great festival, until the dead began to walk again.

Robert Wyatt is one of the best-kept secrets of contemporary British music. Drummer and vocalist in Soft Machine which played with Hendrix and Pink Floyd in their heyday, he split from the group in the late 1960s and started recording solo albums.
