On New Year's Eve, three friends drive into a tunnel quarreling. They ignore road works, roll the car and crash. In the last split second, their lives flash before their eyes. Flashbacks unravel how the men met and what preceded the quarrel. The reconstruction leads to Duco, a psychiatrist who is hiding his homosexuality from his parents. He falls in love with the homeless Reinier, and takes him in. Their love-hate relationship is disrupted when Reinier takes into his house Jeroen who has attempted suicide. Jeroen cleverly digs into the pasts of the men, fathoms their strange relationship and feeds the repressed tension. He uses the situation to his own ends.

Calamity by four-year old might be another title for this tense, humorous drama. In the story, a four year old boy (Mohammed Aladpoush) is left at home with his baby brother while his mother goes out shopping. She has told him to give the baby his bottle while she is away. However, the boy has a different idea about what he should do, and consumes most of the bottle himself. The hungry baby's cries arouse the neighbors to try and get into the apartment, but it is locked, and the four-year old can't (or, more likely, won't) let them in. Despite a number of near-disasters, the enterprising young boy manages things just well enough (with the occasional help of shouted advice from frantic neighbors) so that serious calamities are avoided.

Refugee Class of 2000 is a series of three TV ads produced as part of the Unite Against Racism campaign mounted by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. These ads started airing nationally on Jan. 15, 2000. The central subjects are thirty four Grade 12 students from the graduating class of 2000 of Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School. Tupper is in a working class culturally diverse neighbourhood in Vancouver. Many of the students are first generation born Canadians.
