Unbeknownst to the comatose youth, two life-altering events occurred that summer: his long-absent mother visited secretly, and his college acceptance letter arrived. This coming-of-age story traces the trio's journey through guilt, confusion and fractured dreams in Simao's shadow. When he finally awakens three years later - his innocence preserved like a time capsule - his friends confront bittersweet truths: their struggles to outgrow teenage skins now mirror the very fractures that once bound them.

Art therapy is used as a means of having the children express themselves to cope with the trauma of war, and the pictures that are drawn by these children are as sad as the stories of their countries’ conflicts. Using images of war rarely seen, this film sheds light on the terrifying trend of combatants deliberately targeting civilians, including children.

Passeurs de Reves opens with longtime sweethearts Dolovan and Zara fleeing from their Mesopotamian village, which has been ravaged by ethnic warfare. As they make their way across the frigid Caucasian Mountains, Zara's parents, who are traveling with the couple, succumb to the elements. Dolovan and Zara eventually make it to a run-down evacuee camp presided over by a friendly Kurdish "tsar," where Zara discovers that her deceased father's suitcase is filled with cash. Although this is ostensibly good news, the cash makes the couple vulnerable to smugglers, dodgy guides, and counterfeiters, all of whom are eager to take advantage of Dolovan and Zara's newfound wealth. To further complicate matters, although they have money, the couple lack necessary visas to continue their journey, and soon Dolovan is taken away by the police. Abandoned in the Ukraine, Zara is robbed and then disappears, while Dolovan, traveling solo, eventually makes it to Paris to reunite with his love.

Serse is perhaps Handel's most intriguing operas. Rediscovered at the 1924 Göttingen Handel Festival, the work soon became one of the composer's most popular operas, surpassed only by Giulio Cesare. Its popularity might in part be due to the incredibly popular aria it contains, Ombra mai fu. Recordings of the complete opera are rare and this one first presented in Dresden combines a visually strong staging with exceptional cast and ensemble of Baroque specialists.

With a flashy parody of the ride film to boot. And a curious example of land art.
