In the East of Algeria, there is a family preparing for the important Islamic feast Eid-el-Kabir. The father is very sick and his only wish is that his daughter, Hanifa, should get married before he dies. Hanifa decides for her true love regardless the consequences . The movie also shows the difficult times Algeria is going through.

In a Karakalpak town, an old movie theater is living out its last days. Once upon a time, this was the shore of the Aral Sea, where life was vibrant and the theater flourished. However, with the drying up of the Aral Sea, the country has also changed. The current owner of the theater, a projectionist nicknamed Fellini, is deeply devoted to cinema. His wife, however, does not understand or support his unprofitable passion. One day, a film crew arrives in the town, and Fellini helps them in any way he can, even appearing in an episode.

In the end he realizes that the creation of art, for him, isn't fictional at all, but merely a collage of real-life moments in which he finds meaning and delight. Joaquim Bravo (Évora, 1935 - Lisbon, 1990) exhibited for the first time in 1964, inaugurating what would become one of the most decisive Portuguese galleries, the 111 in Campo Grande. Its doctrinal influence and its enormous capacity for enthusiasm would mark in the early sixties Évora's group of painters (Lapa, Palolo) and, in the 80's, artists such as Xana and Cabrita Reis. At his death, a moving tribute was paid to him by a huge and varied group of artists ranging from João Vieira to Miranda Justo. His work is scattered in a large number of private and institutional collections.

On April 4, 1957, Herbert Norman, the Canadian ambassador to Egypt, leapt to his death from a Cairo rooftop. During his remarkable life, Norman helped set the course of post-war Japan and played a key role during the Suez crisis. But with all of his talents and achievements, there was something haunting Herbert Norman and following him to every corner of the globe: the accusation that he was a Soviet spy. This documentary takes us back to a time when the Cold War was heating up and when the mere accusation of communist sympathies could destroy a man's career. Using de-classified documents, interviews with key players and dramatizations filmed around the world, the film reconstructs the ordeal that Norman endured for seven long years, as a US Senate subcommittee relentlessly probed his past beliefs and current loyalties.

In making this piece, Bourque literally distorted the personal home movie images appearing on the film plane through various manipulations in the process of doing her own low-tech contact printing. The point of contact in printing is continuously shifted so that the film plane appears warped and the images fluctuate, creating a distorted space of fleeting apparitions, like resurfacing memories.

Skilfully combining personal memoir with performances and lively group discussion, Everett reveals the complex dynamics at play in contemporary relationships between butch and femme lesbians. Drawing on her encounters with religion and psychology she poignantly recounts the spiritual reawakening she experienced while weathering the storms of an explosive love affair with a beautiful femme—an affair which precariously straddles the boundaries between obsession and passion, and yet is told with a disarming humour. Woven into this narrative are the insights of lesbian women talking butch-to-butch and femme-to-femme about yin/yang chemistry and a love that borders on worship.

A third of Estonia's people are Russian, most of them put there by Stalin. For Estonians it is like having a dragon's egg laid in your nest: you wait in fear for it to hatch. The Russians in Klooga, an abandoned Soviet Army base, are struggling to build a community with their new Estonian neighbours. Estonians would rather not give Russians citizenship, residence or jobs: they wish they would go home. But for Russians, Klooga is home. A group of American scholars exploring ethnic reconciliation and democratic practice, led by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Vamik Volkan, offers $50,000 to any group of Estonians and Russians who can work together for a common goal. Twenty Russians and Estonians in Klooga form a committee and seize the challenge to build a better life for their children.

In 1999 we borrowed an old SVHS camera from the local College and shot what was to be an intense drama about a man and his journey to becoming a vampire. The results were far from great, but I came across the old, ever ageing tape of the film and decided to convert the project to digital to preserve it. The films features one of my very few staring roles, and also features many of my friends from youth namely David Mills and Jennifer Cooper.
