An architect falls in love with an unemployed mother and her young son who live in a building she has just inherited.

This film was inspired by a surrealist poem composed by Henri Michaux. The sombre and austere decor represents an arid mentality, in the midst of which a living creature is continually transforming itself, reinventing itself, being reborn ... and resisting its overwhelming surroundings. This process is conveyed by a fluctuating means of displacement, which changes from shot to shot.

The White Cat was originally planned as a feature film musical which Anna Biller worked on over a period of a couple of years, creating an original soundtrack, over a hundred costumes, many props, and a children's book. Eventually, realizing it was a bit unconventional and expensive to raise the proper funding for, she instead adapted it for the stage with a cast of eight performers, and called the new version The Lady Cat. The film and play were trying to capture the complex nature of the character of the White Cat, an enchanted princess who has been transformed into a cat, with all of the perversions and fancies that such a transformation implies. This particular scene is about the sexual feelings that are awakened in the two lovers when they witness the awakening of spring.

There is a great deal of history crammed into our journey such as the tragic accident in Clayton Tunnel, the tunnel with a house above the castellated portal. August 1945. In a remote mill in American-occupied Württemberg, a quintuple murder takes place. The investigation is led by Dave Gladbaker, a Jewish employee of the American secret service whose parents were murdered in a concentration camp. His investigations soon focus on Karin Katte, who Gladbaker suspects must have been the real target of the attack. Katte is suspected of being a former concentration camp guard.
