At a petrol station, a middle-aged couple is brutally murdered for no apparent reason. Before tearing off with screeching tires, the assailants steal important documents from the victims' Mercedes. Police detective Daerden, who is conducting an undercover operation at a nearby night club, drives to the scene of the crime and is also hit by the gang. That same night, investigating magistrate Siccard arrives and questions Daerden.

In this travelogue, Forgács documents the Jewish exodus from Slovakia just before the beginning of World War II. In two boats, a group of nine hundred Slovak, Austrian Jews tried to reach the Black Sea via the river Danube, in order to get to Palestine from there. Forgács based his film on the amateur films of Captain Nándor Andrásovits, the captain of one of the boats. He filmed his passengers while they prayed, slept and even got married. At the end of this journey, it is clear that the boat will not return empty: a reverse exodus takes place, this time of repatriating Bessarabian Germans, fleeing to the Third Reich because of the Soviet invasion of Bessarabia

Focusing directly on the world of commercial images, Sut Jhally asks some basic questions about the cultural messages emanating from this market-based view of the world: Do our present arrangements deliver what they claim -- happiness and satisfaction? Can we think about our collective as well as our private interests? And, can we think long-term as well as short-term?

Sarita Colonia was a humble girl from the Peruvian Andes who dedicated much of her life to the poor of Lima and sacrificed herself for them. She died in 1940 at the age of 24. Over time, her tomb became a place of veneration and pilgrimage because of the miracles she began to perform for the most needy. This documentary not only narrates Sarita's life as told by her siblings, but also explores the cult of this unrecognized saint through the migratory process in which she was involved. Her suffering, deprivation, and attempts to survive in the capital make Sarita a reflection of the lives of thousands of migrants who venerate her today.

This is about a supposedly very large man, whose body was cut into pieces for burial. The chapel was very small; his feet stuck out of the door. In several places, he was buried with his treasure. He owned the entire area. People didn't know that digging up gold during a full moon was a terrible thing to do. Then, hands on his body began to come to life and kill people in the forest.

Sagarika is a melodramatic movie portraying the toxic-marital relation between Robin and his wife Sagarika. Robin is essentially repulsed by womankind, due to his childhood trauma after witnessing the suicide of his mother. Being the only son in the family, he was tasked with the chore of bringing new heir to the family, for which he must get married. Initially reluctant to this idea, Robin eventually agrees to get married. On the first night of marriage, he is taken aback by the beauty of Sagarika, and falls in love with her. Sagarika however. becomes traumatized as she gets to witness Robin killing a woman with his own hand. Robin tries to shower Sagarika with love by various narcissistic manners, which only pushes Sagarika further away from him. In one brutal car accident, Sagarika survives and flees the scene thinking Robin perished. Will she be able to have a fresh start and free herself from the trauma given by her husband?

Tells the past and possible futures of two blocks of buildings that form the heart of Chinatown in Seattle. Recounts the history of Chinese immigration to Seattle and the restrictive immigration policies that, for decades, caused the Chinese population to be chiefly single men who needed a center for their lives. These buildings have filled those needs in various ways, first as labor clearing-houses, stores, and lodging, and currently as stores and homes for family and cultural organization.

In little more than a decade, Buncrana native Frank McGuinness has produced a body of startlingly imaginative work that has played to audiences all over the world. His plays cross social, cultural, and political divides best exemplified in his ground–breaking work Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme and its companion piece Carthaginians, about Bloody Sunday in Derry. Both address catastrophic events in the Catholic and Protestant psyches. Clear the Stage examines the work of this important Irish writer. Interviewees include: Frank McGuinness; David Ervine of the Progressive Unionist Party; Trevor Nunn, Director of the National Theatre, London; Brian Keenan, former Beirut hostage, and singer/songwriter Marianne Faithful.

‘Diary, a haunting short film by Peter Todd, crafter of poetic ruminations about ordinary life….just a camera trained on nondescript surroundings, made poignant by the soundtrack’s medley of voices and the director’s sensitivity to the layers of emotions that shape the most ordinary lives.’ Geoff Brown. The Times. 1998.‘Or different voices, still lives: Todd’s short is a poeticrather melancholy meditation on memory and the difficulty of expressing love, which counterpoints evocative images of London with a familial litany of questions and confessions. Moody and intriguing.’ Geoff Andrew. Time Out. 1998.

This double portrait cinematically projects my sister's wound onto my own body and psyche. Shortly after she received a living donor kidney from a friend, I filmed the scar that resulted from removing both her damaged organs. This video projects that image of her two-week-old scar onto my own body, visualizing my complex feelings of knowing I have been spared the gene that caused her disease. In the video, I find, on my own body, the scars I imagine we share.

In 1925 a group from the Military Center of the Bulgarian Communist Party blew up the church 'St. King (now 'St. Nedelya') in Sofia. As a result 150 souls perished and many more were injured. What aims did these people pursue? What should we call them today - mad, insane, terrorists, idealists? It is time we realized the bitter truth that their aim was irrelevantly obscure.
