While the question of Asian American identity is never specifically addressed, Nguyen's casting of Asian Americans as the objects of desire, the creators of fantasy and the participants in erotic exchanges with one another produces a distinctive aesthetic which firmly incorporates Asian American bodies, perspectives and imaginations within a contemporary sexual landscape of risk, desire, regret and creativity.

Taro Shiraga (played by Ninomi Kobayashi), nicknamed “Shigarami Taro”, works in the insurance company’s contract management division. Officially, his role is to entertain insurance saleswomen and encourage them to improve their sales performance. Behind the scenes, however, he is a shrewd investigator of insurance pay-outs. Johan van der Keuken: 'We kept the ends of a lot of shots in Amsterdam Global Village: the camera leaves the subject and pans to the sound woman, who quickly taps the microphone. These taps later in the cutting become the references for synchronising picture and sound. This film is the rhythmic sequence of these taps, in which something of a story can be seen.

The film abstractly explores the crowd as a changing form composed of numerous details. Movement, density, and rhythm transform people into lines, flows, and patterns in which individuality dissolves into a common form. The crowd is perceived here not as a character in the narrative, but as a visual phenomenon, constantly changing and reforming.

Khaindrava's version of this aperçu is in every sense a front-line bulletin: it's a black-and-white docudrama about Georgia's attempts to subdue the rebellion in Abkhazia, made with real young soldiers and partly shot in the thick of battle.
