Operation Bayshield centers on a task force's efforts to eliminate a group of terrorists. Offended by the television series Baywatch, the terrorists have stolen an "MMX chemical bomb" and are staying at an unknown room in a hotel in Vancouver, Washington. After the task force finds and stops the terrorists, a man named Big Jim confronts them as they leave, complaining that they "gassed [his] girlfriend".

One chooses to have a doorman mainly for practical reasons and safety. The friendly smile every time you arrive at or leave your building is a pleasant extra that makes the sometimes lonely life in this big city somewhat more bearable. The presence of the doorman appears to be hardly noticed. In most cases however he knows more about his residents than they would like to believe.

Kidana, a young Eritrean man is arrested while contemplating to join the Eritrean People's Liberation Front. He is accused of being a member. He is imprisoned, tortured, and interrogated by the Ethiopian soldiers. Kidana is being rescued by some EPLF freedom fighters posing as Ethiopian soldiers.

In 1997, Embargo used images and sound to convey the physical suffering of the Iraqi people, who alone bore the brunt of the political punishment meted out to their leaders, the terrorism perpetrated by the international institutions responsible for such a decree, the reign of injustice elevated to the status of political strategy, and the moral corruption engendered by the embargo.

I was in Boulder Col. on a film shoot when I attended one of Stan Brakhage’s film salons that he hosted. I saw some very incredible images that night and got to meet the grand master himself. I was so inspired by what I saw and the people that I met that the moment that I returned home to Seattle I made this film. My first fully hand painted motion picture, and the techniques that I used in this film are the beginning of an entirely new faze of my filmmaking and I hope to master this technique some day.

In her documentary, Aysun Bademsoy portrays five young Turkish women from Berlin Kreuzberg who used to be members of the successful Turkish women's soccer team "BSC-Agrispor". Until recently, the friends had high hopes for an independent future based on their sporting success. But now the season is coming to an end and the five young women, all in their 20s, will stop playing soccer. They don't know exactly what they want to do with their lives. Apprenticeships are rare, and without money, independence from the strict parental home is impossible. But now they are enjoying the Berlin summer together once again, wandering the streets, chasing boys, going to parties, "hanging out".

In Vexation Island, which Graham premiered at the Canadian Pavilion of the 1997 Venice Biennale, the artist appears in full shipwrecked sailor mode, lying unconscious under a tree on a paradise island, with a bruise on his head. Played on a neverending loop, the protagonist wakes up every ten minutes to his cosmic joke, shaking the coconut tree and knocking himself out once again.

CURTAIN OF EYES is an experimental film which combines Japanese Butoh dance with psychological imagery and choreographed cinematography. Over a six month period, director Danièle Wilmouth collaborated with the Butoh dancer Katsura Kan, and his dance company The Saltimbanques, to create movements for both dancers and camera. The result is an exploration of intimate relationships and bi-cultural identity. The British musician Adrian Freedman composed the original score for the film.

Lampedusa used his own family as a model for his epic novel &NFi;Il Gattopardo&NFi_; ("The Leopard"). It was posthumously awarded the Premio Strega and has since been recognized as one of the most important examples of 20th-century Italian literature.
