Explosive and energetic, Alanis Morissette pulls in the audience on this episode of HDNet Concerts Presents with hints of hard rock, gentle folk, electronic beats and free flowing Eastern melodies. The set includes quintessential hits about loving and letting go from the seven-time Grammy winner’s days as a confessional rock phenomenon: “All I Really Want,” “Hands Clean,” “Thank U” and “Uninvited.” The singer/songwriter also introduces fans to her latest and most adventurous album, So-Called Chaos, with songs including “Eight Easy Steps,” and “Excuses,” among others. The honest, unadulterated performance reflects Morissette’s move away from her days as a rancorous 90’s rocker, and into the mode of mature musician ready to experiment with her strengths. Morissette’s enduring introspection, continual evolution and evocative stage presence shine in this performance.

A hanging composed of the six most famous tapestries in the world. These pictures, reproduced everywhere and in all possible forms, have become the emblems of a certain form of romantic art of the late Middle Ages. Beautiful ladies, fabulous animals, abundant flowers, sparkling colours, everything in these tapestries brings pleasure to the eyes. But once the first marvelling is past, the visitor asks questions. What are these blasons that are so obstinately repeated ? What scenes exactly are these hieratic ladies playing ? Why is there each time a lion and a unicorn ? What do these trees, flowers, various animals scattered all over the surface mean ? And who had these splendours woven ? And for what use? Which artist designed the models ? Questions burst out everywhere. Several of them have surprising answers.

This documentary traces the emigration of 50 Irish families, mostly from Connemara, who were transported to Minnesota in 1880 in a misguided attempt to colonise middle America with Catholic families. Each of them was given 640 acres of Sioux land which, despite their primarily fishing background, they were required to farm to survive. Tragically, the experiment was doomed to failure, as some of the descendants of the original transplanted families describe.

Movies are a window on the world. In the 1990s, Taiwan-produced motion pictures did well at international film festivals. This has not only familiarized audiences around the world with the richness of Taiwan movies; it has allowed them to see Taiwan's growth. This presentation focuses on two stages of Taiwan movies: the pluralistic creativity of the 1990s, and the beginnings and foundation-building of the 1980s. It introduces contemporary directors of the time and their works to take viewers back to an enthusiastic and energetic era. It describes the relationship between cinema and social development, and explores the mutual reliance of the aesthetic of realism and social thought. Wave after wave of developments in Taiwan New Cinema occurred in the 1980s and 90s.

What happens in the background, at the edge, and in the last frames of a banal, everyday filming? I tried to find out by blowing up Super-8 to 35mm. A crosswalk, pedestrians, cars—everything becomes a grainy stain on a thick blanket of snow. In this film, I used a particular printing method so that the grain moves (forward or in depth) without changing the scale of the image, an approach I would like to pursue.

For Kurumada Yoichi, who works as an editorial in a publishing company, his job is to go to popular author Hara to pick up his manuscript. However, when he goes there at 1am, the manuscript is not yet finished, and he can hear the voices of Hara and his seductive sexy wife Mariko intertwined in the back room. Later, Mariko seduces Yoichi and they have intense sex, but Hara uses this as a pretext to threaten Yoichi, saying that he has the right to sleep with Yoichi's seductive wife Yumi... This is a shocking erotic work that tells the story of a man's forbidden desire to swap partners in a nightmarish way. It is a unique story of lust and desire surrounding a popular novelist who pursues erotism to the point of cruelty and inhumanity.
