Less than twenty tattered business receipts are the only source of information on the life of Amos Fortune: in 1769, at the age of 59, Fortune bought his freedom from slavery, moved to New Hampshire from Boston, and opened a leather tanning business. Little else is known about this man, who becomes the absent center of the film "Amos Fortune Road." A roadside historical marker inscribed with his name provokes the curiosity of two fictional characters: a teacher, Sharon, and her student, Mary-anne. The film interweaves their personal lives and seemingly endless drives along rural New Hampshire roads with their investigation of Fortune’s identity. When Sharon discovers that most of the information they have gathered originated in two fictionalized biographies, one for children and one for adults, she also realizes that the 200-year-old roads they have been traveling are the same roads Amos Fortune used every day—a quotidian link to a suppressed historical subject.

Tajga was shot after the performance of the same name, performed at the international festival of contemporary arts City of Women in October 1995 in Ljubljana. The viewer enters a dark atmosphere dictated by dramatic vocal-electronic music, passing anthropomorphic and waxy zoomorphic figures, and camera movements. When the author establishes the landscape, she places a wrestler and a drowning woman in it, and with these scenes she further increases the suspension. At the height of the dramaturgy, the set stage collapses. The waxen guard dogs dissolve and the soldiers retreat. Naked female characters appear, announcing the transition to a period of warmth and peace, accompanied by softer music.

Eva Duarte de Peron ("Evita") is one of the most controversial figures in history. A minor actress when she married Argentine president-to-be Juan Peron, her political power and prestige eventually equaled his. Was she a power-hungry Marie Antoinette? Or was she really the savior of the working poor? In this documentary, rare photographs and films tell Evita's real story, from her humble birth to her tragic death from cancer at 33.

Two-channel installation. Cameras were attached to both ends of a seesaw in a playground, capturing the blurred scenic views with ambient sound coming from the opposite ends in a continuous cyclical motion of ups and downs. One video captures a perspective facing the sun, while the other has its back to it; 30 minutes footage were recorded between 4pm and 5pm on a sunny, breezy afternoon.

Main character of AZ ÖRVÉNY is cameraman György Petö. His private films shot before and during World War II document his family, and particularly his girlfriend and later wife Eva Lengyel. With hindsight, these films, mainly recorded in the southern Hungarian city of Szeged, make up an extremely wry historical document. Petö was a Jew. Slowly but gradually we notice how the anti-Jewish laws and political revolutions in Hungary take the family in a stranglehold. AZ ÖRVÉNY is a rhapsody of found footage. Skillfully edited and complemented with additional footage, it produces an account of an atrocious era and a plea for human dignity.

The Red Paper asserts a voice of power and interpretation recounting the devastating consequences of colonialism. The European male wears a straitjacket, repeatedly mumbling “I did not know, I did not know,” in a familiar contemporary mantra that pleads self-proclaimed absolution from guilt by reason of ignorance of history. Claxton irreverently and consciously opts for a lack of historical specificity in favour of a totalizing haunting by history in the present.

Director Alan Berliner takes on his reclusive father as the reluctant subject of this affecting and graceful study of family history and memory. Ultimately this complex portrait is a meeting of the minds -- where the past meets the present, where generations collide and where the boundaries of family life are stretched, torn and surprisingly, at times, also healed. Berliner has transformed a story of a troubled man who has sealed himself off from life's pain into a work of universal resonance.

Emil Barchański. A resident of Warsaw. He took part in the action of setting fire to the monument of Feliks Dzierżyński. He took part in street demonstrations. Arrested as a result of a provocation. Beaten. He was put before the Juvenile Court for printing illegal publications. In 1982 he was 17 years old. On a June day he left home and never returned. He died in mysterious circumstances. The author of the film attempts to reconstruct the last hours of the boy's life, and at the same time goes back to the events of the months preceding the tragic epilogue. Emil and his death are recalled on camera by his mother and peers. His co-workers talk about the events during martial law, drawing sometimes surprising conclusions. People involved in solving the mystery of the boy's death also talk about it. The most controversial character of the story also appears: a man who accompanied Emil during his last walk to the Vistula River.
