Akomfrah has disguised this exploration as a science fiction story – in the manner of the groundbreaking writers profiled in The Last Angel of History – while providing a bravura display of the aesthetics of video art in the 1990s. The tale of visitors from the future who gather dreams from unwitting subjects in order to construct a history of the Black diaspora both defamiliarizes Akomfrah’s ongoing project and points to the danger that extracting history from memory can be a kind of expropriation.

Nihal is a clean shaven Sikh, Neelima is a Hindu, Angad is a Sikh and Anna a Christian, while Angad's fellow officers represent all religion

The three quickly become friends and embark on a foolhardy adventure, but they are involved in one bizarre accident after another... A surreal story and images that seem to make no sense, that seems to continue and break off, that seems to be in the near future and in the past, that seems eerie and wacky. The analogue speed of the film evokes the sensation of a daytime nightmare.

Japanese TV documentary about Andrei Tarkovsky The Japanese (NHK) documentary "Tarkovsky: A Journey to His Beginning", presented here, was first aired on 11 May 1996. Edited by Ms Tomoko Baba, the running time is 45 minutes. It's essentially a documentary surrounding the making of Andrei Tarkovsky's student short, The Killers (released by the Criterion Collection), based on the Hemingway short story.
