In this short animation, a girl is so carried away by her love of music that she forgets about her household chores. Her father tells her to finish the dishes. Instead of washing them, she turns them into musical instruments, and he finally recognizes her talent. Based on Article 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, this film illustrates children's right to develop their talents and abilities to their fullest potential.

In 1989, Yurii Illienko came to Tbilisi to show Sergei Parajanov his film “Swan Lake. The Zone“, based on Parajanov's prison stories. The next day after the screening, Illienko shows the film to Soviet central party newspaper Pravda, which publishes the news of the resignation of Vladimir Shcherbytsky, who had ordered Parajanov's initial imprisonment. Illienko hands Parajanov the newspaper and turns on a household video camera. What follows is a friendly conversation between the two geniuses.

Willy Bogner's most famous work are probably the ski stunts in most of the James Bond movies.

Dream Tower chronicles Toronto's most notorious social experiment of the sixties. Inspired by cultural critic Paul Goodman, philosophies of alternative education, and the decade's political upheaval, a group of young idealists established Rochdale as a free university and student residence in 1968. Rochdale's founders envisioned an enlightened community of self-educators, and the first 100 or so students, earnestly studying subjects such as Heidegger and anarchism in eight-hour seminars, made the dream seem possible. But they didn't anticipate that some people wouldn't know what to do with freedom, that hippies kicked out of Yorkville would overrun the building, or that drug-dealing motorcycle gangs would camp out in the lobby.

The film is set in Transylvania in the 1920s, a region that was then part of Romania under the peace treaties following the First World War. The protagonist, Abel, is a resourceful teenage boy who is forced to leave his parents and his home because of poverty. His father accompanies him to the snowy mountains, where he is the guardian of a forest owned by the bank of a neighbouring town, where he oversees the firewood that is being harvested. Up there, he has only himself to rely on. Áron Tamási's beautiful story is about the relationship between man and nature, man and man.

At Easter 1991, when few could have imagined the xenophobic riots of the following months and years, 28-year-old black contract worker Jorge Joa Gomondai from Mozambique died in Dresden. He was attacked by a group of rioting skinheads and thrown from a moving tram. Or did he jump in panic? The trial against three perpetrators failed to answer this question. His parents in Mozambique are still waiting for an explanation or apology from the city, or for compensation.

“I wanted to document a normal life that you would see anywhere; and I realized that this was my own family. I half-jokingly submitted a proposal to a television station, and it was accepted. I began filming a diary of my family’s life using 8mm video that same day.” And so begins the hysterically tumultuous weeklong experience of this helpless father left behind at home with his unsuspecting two year-old daughter Mio, while his wife Niji is hospitalized to give birth to their next daughter.

"[Last Station / Verjin kayan] is inspired by the play 'Sojourn at Ararat', written and directed by Gerald Papasian and Nora Armani who also perform in the film. The play was premièred in 1986 in Edinburgh and went on to make a world tour. The film tells the story of three people on tour with a play against the background of a time in which new nations emerge and old rulers make desperate efforts to cling on to power. The scenes in the play are comments on the life of three actors, the Man, the Woman - an Armenian couple - and the Stage Manager, a dissident Russian who was once a famous Shakespearian actor. The picture of the three becomes increasingly clear as the journey passes more and more locations and they meet more and more people." - IFFR
