St. Ambrose in Brunswick has a rich history that mirrors the waves of change in the Australian Catholic Church and migration to Australia since the 1870s. In the 1990s, at the centre of even greater upheavals is the enigmatic priest, Father Bongiorno. The priest presides over a fascinating stream of factional battles, entrenched Church policies, diverse ethnic needs and the faith of the population of St Ambrose.

A 1994 Yorkshire Television Production for Discovery Channel documentary - Hacker Attack, is a well balanced account of the hacker, security, and electronic crime worlds in late 80s and early 90s. It begins by featuring Mark Abene incarcerated in Schuylkill talking about his views on hacking and the story of MoD. Emmanuel Goldstein is displayed throughout the documentary talking about the hacker community during 2600 meetings and on the Off the Hook radio show. Next 'Hacker Attack' turns to the darker side of hacking when we jump into unmarked NYPD surveillance van to track down cloned cellular phones. There is an extensive coverage of credit card fraud, high tech robbery, and industrial espionage. At last we can watch Winn Schwartau and Dan Farmer talk about threats to our financial and military infrastructures. Throughout the documentary, there are snippets of anonymous hackers breaking into various computer systems.

Obsessive journal entries, clinical reports, varied sources of music, and a series of watercolors depicting a pierced and bleeding brain are among the many elements that make up a narrative around the occasion of mental breakdown. Instruments of electrical transmission are metaphors for the diseased brain, as reconstructed by a woman who has lost her reason, her body, and her foothold in personal identity. The unseen protagonist at first attributes her illness to repeated hearings of a Chopin mazurka on the radio.

"Don't Eat Crow", a somewhat situational piece, consists of an audio narration by Katherine Grevatt, an unpublished novelist who lives along the South Shore of Nova Scotia. For a full day David Askevold set up a feeder to see the reaction of the crows (who regularly fly around his backyard) to his camera he had placed on a tripod nearby. The resulting footage is juxtaposed with the letters Grevatt wrote to long time friend Norma Ready between October 1993 and July 1994. Background sound consists of appropriated music from the radio and original keyboard music by Askevold created while listening to the three tracks and viewing the edited footage.

‘Amores de Rua’ questions the attitude towards sexuality espoused by a society in which sex workers fight for the right to citizenship. The film travels through Vila Mimosa, Praça Mauá and erotic nightclubs frequented by all genders, where performers mouth along to camp hits. The film presents a discussion about sexuality based on testimonies from sex workers, transgender women and representatives of associations including Euridice Coelho (then president of the Association of Prostitutes of Rio de Janeiro) and Gabriela Silva Leite (from the organisation Vida Prostituição, Direitos Civis e Saúde).

Arranged from A to Z in 26 segments, the video looks at the relationship between image and text. In a playful and satirical manner, it roams through past and present of the Asian experience within North America and beyond, from the Chinese railroad laborers, Hiroshima and the Korean War, to the arrivals of the Boat People and the Hong Kong money. Both simplistic and complex in its presentation, The Yellow Pages seeks to interact with the viewers, never allowing one single reading.

Examines how the privatized market economy in southeastern China has paradoxically led to the emergence of a new public spirit as peasants and merchants donate money to nongovernmental organizations. The NGOs examined here include a lineage association, a deity temple, a private school, old people's association and a Catholic church. Includes interviews with a wide range of Chinese, as well as contemporary scenes of daily life, a rural market and a factory (UC Berkeley Library).

‘The film is set in a fast food take-away, at a roundabout where the excess of traffic, light and sound forces us into dream space. Projections of desire and place are carved into this nocturnal city. Moments of convergence and detachment intercut, forming narratives of expectation. Notions of home surface in this place of inherent transience, where only some gestures mark a continuity, where time and people pass through, fluid like water.' - LUX

Wake compares colonial paintings of New Zealand intended to encourage migration to the colonies in the 1850s, with filmed images of the same country 100 years later, shot by the filmmaker's father. This experimental film compares the vision of a "promised land" with the lived memory of migration and explores too, the misrepresentation of indigenous people during both these eras. The half-hour experimental film is a response to the death of the filmmaker's father, an event that ultimately led to her return to New Zealand after a decade in America.

In october 1888 Vincent Van Gogh who has been living for eight months in Arles, paints his room. A year later, when he is at the Saint-Paul de Mausole Hospice near Saint-Rémy, he feels compelled to paint two copies of this picture which he is especially fond of. It is deliberately simple and yet seems very strange. Vincent wanted to see it as a symbol of rest but the objects in it seem to retreat and space seems to become deformed. Detailed researchs, as in the series "Palettes" has made it possible to reconstitute exactly the room in Arles. Vincent painted it in fact with the detail which fascinated him in the work of the old Dutch Masters. But he brought to it the extraordinary gift of his brush stroke and his new range of colours. That autumn, between the sunflowers, the harvest and the room in Arles Vincent reached the "higt note in yellow".
