In Zurich film maker Michael Rauch uses amateur actors, to capture the dreary everyday life of young unemployed heroin addicts who support their habit by selling drugs to junkies on the Zurich Platzspitz {Needle Park]. Camera work, lighting design and film are deliberately neglected. "The crude, amateurish image quality and poor resolution of video-8 blur the line between fiction and reality and shows a shocking document of the urban" quality of life "to the present."

Space Adventure is a 1989 sci-fi action brickfilm by Christian Stage. It was filmed in Norway and shot on Super 8 film, with all effects being achieved in-camera. Pre-production took place in 1983, the production occurred from 1984 to 1988, and the post-production was done in 1989. Upon completing the film, Stage created a preliminary soundtrack, and began sending the film to European TV stations and to The LEGO Group, to see if anyone was interested in doing anything with it. LEGO declined, with their stated reason being that it was too violent. The Children's Channel UK took interest, and created a new, more professional soundtrack. They added new voice acting, and allowed Stage to choose the music. The film was aired on The Children's Channel, and later also on SVT in Sweden and NRK in Norway.

The Safari Rally is probably also the toughest event in the Rally Championship calendar. Miki Biasion was out to retain his title and was entered alongside Argentinian Jorge Recalde in the works Martini Lancia Delta Integrale. Support was provided once again by the Jolly Club car of Alex Fiorio. Bjorn Waldegard led the Toyota challenge in the Supra Turbo, whilst Nissan had two 1988 200SX models for the entry list with drivers Per Eklund and Kenyan Mike Kirkland. Another Swedish veteran, Stig Blomqvist was also entered, in a VW Golf GTi. Witness the conditions and drama of this unique event which tests drivers, navigators and cars like no other on the World Rally calendar.

Round 9 of the 1989 World Rally Championship took place in Finland accompanied by a torrential downpour of rain which added the possibility of aquaplaning to its already notorious reputation for not being one of the more popular rally courses. Recognised as a cut and thrust affair where results are often decided by seconds rather than minutes, the 1000 Lakes lived up to its reputation as a tough and demanding drive and on top of the treacherous weather conditions caused by the heavy rain, cars were decimated by mechanical failure and driver error over the 1,447 km course.

"Life Under Occupation" looks at the hardships of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation in the early years of the Intifada in Gaza and disillusioned Israeli soldiers lamenting their military training gone to waste as they spend their days chasing down stone throwing youths. It also features Dr Swee Chai Ang working with injured children in the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Dr Swee was an eye witness to the Sabra and Shatila massacre in Beirut, about which she has testified at the Kahan Commission and written in her book From Beirut to Jerusalem, and she went on to found Medical Aid for Palestinians, with which she remains active today. "Life Under Occupation" was aired on BBC1 as an episode of Everyman, a documentary series that ran from 1977 until 2005 and which focused on religious and moral issues. Of related interest is "A Very Stubborn Person," another UK TV documentary that profiles Dr Swee.

In contrast to Hochhaus, with Felder 9.6 I wanted to realize a creative solution in the smallest of spaces, and at the same time exercise complete control over the development process. For this purpose I first looked for a suitable motif; it should be devoid of emotional or physical meaning and should not represent any function or idea. But it should very well already have a process-like dynamic, which I then wanted to take up with my design and, so to speak, 'transform'. I made a wooden light box with a glass surface; I mounted a red light underneath and a graph paper template on the glass with precise graphic instructions for the positions of the filmstrip on the photostrip. I had calculated that I could move the 16mm film 12 times across the width of the 35mm format, each time shifting the optical soundtrack by 3mm.

The designs, models and reconstructed parts of the Bauhaus building in Dessau are shown with calm camera work and beautiful editing sequences. The clear lines and basic ideas of the architecture and the everyday objects presented, such as lighting and seating, show the practical and functional applications of 1920s design.

Kyiv, 1989. A demonstration dedicated to the anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy is happening at the “Dynamo” stadium – all the seats are filled, the words “Chornobyl, Prypiat, a warning” are visible on the scoreboard. People took to the streets in search of truth because years after the tragedy, there was still no comprehension or public awareness of the real dangers of radiation, and a general feeling that no one from the government had been punished for the accident or for carrying on with the 1st of May demonstration held in Kyiv in the first days of the tragedy.

This film is about the largest work of art ever produced in Iceland, the mural on the front of the Búrfell hydro-electric power station. Sigurjón Ólafsson was commisioned for the work, and the film describes the process of the work from the time that he and his assistant, Gudmundur Benediktsson, began the project at Sigurjón's studio until they finally completed it where it stands at the isolated power plant. Sigurjón devised an innovated method for producing the mural. A mould was first cut out in insulating plastic which was then fitted to the concreting construction of the building.

A vivid document of the hard-drinking West Berlin scene of the late eighties, and at the same time one of the last important events before the fall of the Wall. “On the afternoon of 25.06.89, my good friend Wolfgang came to me and told me about a tequila fight drink that Andi wanted to organize with friends in a tin store in Mittenwalderstraße in Kreuzberg. We grabbed the VHS camera and went along. 13 hard-drinking participants, including two New Zealanders, took part. The rules were simple: "One tequila every five minutes! If you don't drink, you're out!" Our plan: Wolfgang was to drink along first and then take over the camera later to film "insight", so to speak. I was supposed to film the beginning and then, as a non-alcoholic drinker, support him. After a short time, however, Wolfgang got so carried away that everything turned out quite differently...“
