THE BODY ON THREE FLOORS was a collaborative project that emerged from a dance class, between a dozen people with different professional art form and science skills and featuring the pianist, Keith Tippett. A project by filmmaker Mike Leggett and produced with the technical and financial assistance of a regional arts board and a regional television station in Britain. The program approach utilises the method of essay, and the essay of imagination, working across television genres in a manner intended to be both serious and entertaining.

Johnny is an illusionist who tours the various local theaters with his magic box act. The act involves his wife, Ramona, who steps into a large box which is then pierced with swords and knives. A crank is turned and sausages emerge from the other side which are then offered to the audience. One night when he opens the box the audience reaction is unusually ecstatic. Johnny looks inside and discovers to his horror that his wife is no longer there. She has simply vanished.

After the first bank robbery in Taiwan happened in 1982, the three oligopolistic TV stations repeatedly screened the surveillance video of the robber LEE Shih-ke carrying a gun and crossing the bank counter. To the director, LEE’s action symbolised the transgression of law and the reclamation of his right of name.

Marv decides he wants to be a human but Harv tries to discourage him by explaining that he would have to keep his hands clean, bathe, brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc. This is an updated version: In the 1974 version the kids are seen playing football, in this, the second they are painting a mural.

From 6 P.M. on July 4, 1983, until 6 P.M. on July 4, 1984, Tehching Hsieh and Linda Montano were tied together continuously with an 8-foot rope which passed loosely around their waists and was sealed at each end. Their intention was not to touch each other except accidentally—about 60 brush-bys and one brief hug by Montano occurred during the year. They slept in separate beds a few feet apart. When one showered, the other waited outside the door, but aside from this they were never in separate rooms. Both remained celibate for the duration. This film was shot on black-and-white super 8mm.
