"A film about the fascination of discarded, abandoned household items: it is more suitable than other things for colored compositions, because the picture borders may be as arbitrary as the accidental end position of the garbage. Moisture, natural light and leafy green make the fabrics glow, and the discarded and broken tend to be quiet abstractions, but at the same time they are disturbing because of the aura of domestic life" (Christine Noll Brinckmann)

In/Side/Out I-VI proposes a series of variations from abstract, geometric images to a more temporal abstraction, allowing the reintegration of figurative images. This confrontation is done under the sign of the alternation, creating a network of identification which is diversified, preventing any reconstitution of corp (u) s. This fragmentation is redoubled by the reduction of the images by two inside the frame.

Indonesia is among Australia’s closest neighbours - less than 500 kilometres separates our northern coastline from the island of Timor. It is one of the world’s most populous countries and over 80 percent of its people are Muslim. The military plays a significant role in politics in Indonesia and at the time of filming, the government was headed by President Suharto, an army general. This series looks at the lives of seven very different people, all Indonesian. Through these individuals, we gain contrasting perspectives on Indonesia which contribute to our understanding of this nation’s complex character.

"The Role of Chance" ("La part du hasard") focuses exclusively on drawing and painting techniques used by the painter Henri Dimier. Shot over several weeks in the same artist's studio, the film shows works in their different phases, processes rarely explained or little known. It also addresses many practical issues (choice of paper, pigment grinding, reports drawings, put the tiles, cliches, etc) as well as broader questions of method and inspiration (use of space, the role of contours, power of suggestion perspectives, use of random processes). Patrick Bokanowski sought with this film to restore the spirit of this teaching, showing how to bend a note or sometimes revealing an essential mystery of creation.

That Has Been is the last in a series of longer works made in the first half of the 1980s. The film was shot in two adjacent rooms. Outside views are seen in reflection via an aluminum photographic lamp, while some of the imagery is generated from photographs taken in the same spaces. The occasional voice over explores the relationship between places and dreams and that between memories and the physical events that can trigger them.

A strike of Turkish workers at the company NORDDARM GmbH in Bahrenfeld, next to the beautiful Hermes high-rise building. "We want our money!", "We only earn 1000 DM gross, for this payment we do piecework", were the slogans. Interviews with the strikers about the unsustainable working conditions, the owner G. Politis does not want to say anything about the allegations. A broad solidarity builds up and ends in a great demonstration. The result: the strikers are fighting for re-employment and additional payment of wages.
