Seiko Matsuda's first starring role in a TV drama, adapted from the novel Father by Shusaku Endo. As well as the title, the film attracts great attention for Seiko's bewitching transformation from a young girl to an adult! The heroine, who lives for her job as a sports club instructor, falls in love with a businessman with a wife and child. But her father wants his daughter to have an ordinary but happy marriage and a peaceful family... This drama explores the conflict between a daughter who wants to keep her love alive and her father, as well as the nature of love. Hiroshi Katsuno plays Seiko's adulterous partner, and Keiki Kobayashi plays Kikuji, the father who wishes for ordinary happiness as a woman.

This film is an evocation of the life of the 19th century French poet Arthur Rimbaud, based on a series of paintings by Sidney Nolan. Rimbaud was always one of Nolan’s heroes. Over the years he painted many pictures of the poet. The famous artist responded enthusiastically to a suggestion by an Australian scriptwriter for a film about Rimbaud and he produced 31 large new paintings for this film together with many small crayon drawings. These works, interwoven with a wealth of drawings paintings, photographs and documents from the Louvre, the French National Library and the Rimbaud Museum at Charleville, have been combined in a filmic evocation of one of France’s most extraordinary writers.

Tanaka finally gets the formula but it is shot from his hand again. The ghostly image floods Tanaka's mind and he is left laughing in an insane heap.

This short improvised fiction film is affectionately called Yugantar’s ‘hit’ film. In the midst of the very active autonomous women’s movement in India, Yugantar collaborated with the research and feminist activist collective Stree Shakhti Sanghatana, provoked by an urgency to broaden discourses and political practice on domestic violence. Through an intense period of a consciousness raising style sharing of their own varied and multi-layered experiences of domestic violence, members of both collectives created a script that focuses on isolation and depression while also developing a complex female character in the process of articulating her situation and finding support in female friendship.

You May Break 1983, pivots on a taut relationship between sound and image in time. The work embraces the qualities and limitations of the medium of analogue video.The work opens with a screen so luminous that the subject is barely discernable, the audio, a faint rustle. The subject is revealed through repeats, as the luminance is adjusted toward the norm; cut into these sequences are close ups, of petals, thorns and broken glass, macro shots of – what will come. Next a wider shot of the vase of roses on a mantelpiece. An arm picks up the vase, and the image judders into slow motion, accompanied by a startling rise in volume. The arm brings the vase smashing down, and a ‘glitch’ repeatedly rips across the screen. The ‘glitch’ is integral to the shuddering slow motion, made when the videotape was dragged across the record heads to change the speed; it’s a destructive process leaving its trace across the image.
