In the butcher shop is a septic tank where scraps of meat are dumped, which has produced "balonium," a radioactive fuel source sought by space aliens. The aliens revive the mayor, whose body is hanging in the meat locker of the butcher shop, in an attempt to gain access to the balonium.

Priyoranjan and Ratnakar are close friends, almost like brothers, until Priyo marries Chirosree against their parents' wishes. Though they start their family in poverty, Ratnakar is always there to help. However, as Chirosree and Ratnakar grow closer, Priyo becomes jealous, leading to conflict. Priyo's life spirals as he lands in jail, while Chirosree, with Ratnakar's support, starts a successful cosmetics business. After being released, Priyo reunites with his wife and son, and with Ratnakar's help, the family is brought back together, ending the film on a happy note.

Even great love does not necessarily overcome a difference of morals - although the young hero is very much in love, he still rejects the comfortable and easy existence he could lead thanks to the family of his future father-in-law. A tediously moralistic comedy, it picks up with all seriousness the morality of a socialist man who has broken forever with petty bourgeois ideas. It is therefore too contrived, nor does it succeed in elevating the tawdry story in any way. A comedy about life's little and big compromises.
