Cinematic Era: 1981 Vintage

A year passes and another year begins.

Flesh, Metal, Wood is an experimental film combining visual and musical elements to create a unique exploration into the spiritual nature of creative music. It examines the foundations of the musical form referred to as avant-garde jazz through the mental experiences, dreams, and visions of a young musician.

Cruel and lustful Thakur Dayal Singh (Amjad Singh) brutally rapes Sarla (Nazneen), forcing her to commit suicide, leaving her young children, Vikram and Munna, homeless. Vikram and Munna try to stay together but are separated. Years later Vikram (Sanjeev Kumar) has taken to a life of crime with Ranvir, who unknown to Vikram, is none other than Thakur Dayal Singh. While assisting his friend, Peter (Paintal) to meet with his future wife, Ruby (Preeti Ganguly), Vikram meets with the ravishing Priya (Sulakshana Pandit), and both fall in love with each other. Meanwhile Munna found a place in the home and heart of the devout and kind-hearted Sher Khan (Pran), who now calls him Amar Khan. Amar (Jeetendra) grows up to a diligent Police Inspector. His duties lead him to meet many thiefs and criminals, one of whom is the beautiful Soni (Neetu Singh). After a few misunderstandings both fall in love, and Soni pledges to give up her life of crime.

In Retour d'un repère composé the same material is presented successively in three different versions : the first third is a straight single print which corresponds exactly to Retour d'un repère. The second third is a combined picture printed twice onto the same film strip (the second printing being in another tone and shifted back one frame) and the third section is a combined image printed in a similar way thrice. The length of Retour d'un repère composé is necessary : in the process of viewing the film the work gathers momentum thus giving access to a more intricate visual experience. "Composed recurrence" is a rough translation of Retour d'un repère composé as one loses the "point of reference" aspect concerning "repère".

Baron Childerich III of Bartenbruch considers himself to be a descendant of the Merovingian dynasty and he has drawn up a chart of marriages and adoptions which show that he is his own father, grandfather, father-in-law, and son-in-law. He aims at achieving the "total family" based on one man. He persuades his french relative, Pippin, to help him. But the latter lets him down and breaks up the family... Among those who belong to the (surrounding) world of the Baron are Dr. Döblinger, a writer, who has formed a band of muggers and Professor Horn, a psychiatrist, who quiets his patients by leading them on nose rings and beating them up... Family satire with numerous personal and literary allusions based on the novel of the Austrian writer, Heimito von Doderer.

Abscam (Framed) frames the FBI sting operation known as "Abscam" by mixing FBI surveillance footage of Congressman Michael "Ozzie" Meyers with footage shot by Lord at the Motel where the original sting occurred—in the process, inserting the artist into this moment in history.

The son of a taxi driver goes to Europe to pursue his studies but goes wasted. One of his friends takes him to a group of drug smugglers which is managed by a woman having influence over others. The son is arrested in a mission smuggling drugs in Iran but the leader orders to release him. Instead of him, they arrest an addicted in Jamshid street and sentence him to death. The son is influenced by this event and begins to fight against the smugglers and he is injured severely. A sweeper finds him in the street and calls an ambulance. The taxi driver comes to the location and takes his son to the hospital.

"Carla's Island" was a pioneering computer animation, possibly the first of its kind to depict fluid wave motion and realistic weather effects.

Experimental diary shot in 1978-1979 when Alain Mazars was a volunteer teacher in China, 2 years after Mao's death. We see a few pictures, by candlelight, and they flash before our eyes quicker and quicker, before becoming mental images, an entanglement of memories coming from a mind that was asleep until then.

Paul goes from one job to another but never seems to be able to keep one long enough to earn much money. His wife despairs at him, particularly when he gets involved with gambling.

The first series of a film whose course is in parallel with the life of the author. Unlike a newspaper, however, any realistic, everyday element is excluded. Only one theme will carry through the whole work: the expectation of death, its presence at every moment of life, the inexorable advance of time which, hour after hour, day after day, season after season, marks every face, every body transforms every look, invests every place in its light, its forms, its colors, asserts itself in the face of what man believes eternal: the ebb and flow of the sea, the mass of rocks, their stone works.

By looking at the 1960s from the perspective of Baker, the "godmother of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee," FUNDI adds an essential understanding of the U.S. civil rights movement.
