Jean-François loves Constance with a tender and passionate love. It is enough to see the behavior of this lunar clown to realize that every moment passed away from his beloved is a real torture. Shared between endless trips in the corridors of the metro and evenings between friends, it is not good in his skin. Combining the style of a documentary essay and stop motion animation, and inspired by the short story "Palle Alone in the World", Puhovski shows the fantastic, but also terrifying world of Miroslav Šutej's "mobiles". In that world where there are no people, "mobiles" move independently and have their own life, parallel to the life of people, who, due to the different dimensions they live in compared to "mobiles", simply do not notice them.

The title Un enano en el jardin is an allusion to the Super 8 format and the setting where the actions that comprise the film unfold. A catalogue of extreme experiments with the mobility of the camera coordinated with brief improvisations by the Brazilian dancer Alice Bloch. It was mostly filmed with an Instamatic m22 camera (possibly the simplest and lightest Super 8 camera, with a fixed lens and manual diaphragm), so resistant that it functioned in conditions that would be unthinkable with a more complex camera, rotating at high speed around the optical axis or tied to a 35mm reel rewinder.

"This is a landscape study of an Orkney croft, with the figure of the crofter, Mary Graham Sinclair, very much in the picture. The croft is West Aith, on the edge of a small loch, which almost every passing visitor stops to photograph or draw or paint. I have been filming this beautiful place since 1977, observing many of the human activities which alter and define how it looks." Margaret Tait

A satirical enquiry into the origins of media, their distribution and their effects on the way we behave. Those familiar with cartoonist Bruce Petty’s award winning film Leisure will enjoy the same sharp wit brought to bear on another institution, the media. This three-part film is a satirical enquiry into the origins of media, their distribution and their effects on the way we behave. The first part provides a brief history of print, radio, television and film. The second part proposes that a market-placed media produces the problem of monopolisation leading to mediocrity. Finally, Petty produces a caricature of the way ideas form in the mind from reading print, as distinct from passive looking and listening.

These modes can span traditional a cappella performance styles as well as unique expressive vocal forms that have evolved as part of daily life, work, and play: hollerin’, jump-rope rhymes, “eephing,” nonsense songs, auctioneering, drill sergeant’s patter and others.

By the end of 1980 I knew that I'd be entering the Ph.D program in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University. In retrospect it's perhaps surprising that I'd satisfied all my course requirements in the Business School at Loyola University Chicago and that two free electives remained. Innumerable interactions with Loyola are to that University's credit: one is that they put no obstacles in my way for transferring elective credits in from courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). And so I signed up for Animation I with Byron Grush and Drawing for Animation I with Dennis Wille. I remember being exceedingly nervous when I showed up at SAIC to register and pay for those courses as I had no portfolio, only a (one hopes) coherent verbal explanation of my interest in the subject. The gentleman seated at the film department table signed off on my application. That was my first meeting with Fred Camper

Corruption in Southeast Asia does not always need to be fictionally invented, and Prachachon Nork is a case in point - it is based on real-life events played out on the lower echelons of society. When a farmer in a small village suffers the tragic death of his son because he could not afford medical help, he leaves the village for work in the city - and more suffering for himself as he joins the union, goes out on strike, and faces the consequences from the angered employers. Meanwhile, a student arrives in the village and tries to help out the farmers, only to step on the toes of the middlemen who want their profits for selling the produce. The student also suffers a terrible fate as his ideals and the reality of the cut-throat middlemen clash.

How did Andy Warhol meet Ulrike Meinhof? By Chance. Ulrike Meinhof is one of the legends of our age. Her personality is just as tragically failing as Warhol's. Completely his opposite, she turned politics into tragic poetry; she had to meet Andy Warhol, who turned exhausted art into daily food. The artist who gained freedom in complete unity with the existing world and the revolutionary who did not find freedom until death — they had things to say to each other." Documentation of this live performance includes the film piece, "An Imperial Message," the text of which is taken from a parable by Franz Kafka, depicts the bizarre encounter between the character of Andy Warhol, who rides horseback through the city streets, and Ulrike Meinhof, played by the child Eszter Balint, known later for her performance in Jim Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise.

An underground gay video already existed in the late 1970s in japan. "Seishun taiken shirīzu shōnen Jun no natsu" is the oldest ever know sold through legitimate channels however, it turned out that the Athens Ueno store was producing 8mm film works since 1973. So far, it has not been confirmed that Athens' original work was sold on VHS/Beta before Shonen Jun no Natsu. As a side note, the first domestically produced adult video for straight men was also released in the same year, and it is no exaggeration to say that these works for adults greatly contributed to the spread of VHS decks in Japan throughout the 1980s.
