The Police are informed of drug dealing and search through cars and Mansu is arrested. Will Detective Jung find more evidence? Will Mansu defend himself? Erik Reger’s roman à clef examines the development of the Rhineland industrial region from 1918 to 1928, using the Risch-Zander steelworks as a case study: Strikes, the Emperor’s visit, revolution, workers’ and soldiers’ councils, the occupation of the Ruhr, the fighting following the Kapp Putsch, and inflation characterize the desperate situation of the industrial proletariat. The content cannot be retold: it is not about individuals, but at best about sociologically balanced specimens of a species. It is about the sociocultural complex of the Ruhr region, about heavy industry as its organizing center; it is about those involved, from the laborers to the managers; and finally, about the political parties, from the KPD to the NSDAP.

Vilma has not found peace in life since her father's death. Being an only child and living with her mother, all hopes of lifting both women out of their challenging lives—shared in a poor house in the suburbs of Rio—rest on Vilma. Instead, the businesswoman from West Germany and the research engineer from East Germany find themselves in the sights of shady people who do not shy away from crime in order to achieve their goals, and so the two main protagonists find themselves in increasingly dangerous situations.

In the train he meets a magic old man (Ladislav Pesek) who warns him and admonishes him to change his behavior. After he arrives to Prague the old man's threat comes true.
