The work’s images appear as visualizations of electronically generated sounds. Initially, small pulsating pixel structures occasionally appear on the black screen. These monadic forms become larger, ultimately filling the picture plane and pulsating ever more intensely.

Mehri and Keyvan spend their holidays in Bandar with their parents. Mehri falls in love with a young man named Hemet, and Keyvan falls in love with Hemet's sister (Zinet). Despite their parents' approval, the two couples decide to get married. Zeinet and Keyvan get married, and Hemet goes to Tehran to buy a wedding dress. But he loses his money and, since he has no intention of returning, he stays in Tehran. Zeinet is unloved by her family, and when she gives birth to her child (the child is black), Keyvan drives her away on the pretext of infidelity. The family doctor shelters Zeinet, and Mehri commits suicide in order to blame her parents, but a series of incidents and actions taken by the doctor resolve the problem and the two couples live a peaceful life.

An aeronautical engineer in his forties, passionate about his job, nevertheless opts for a well-compensated year of unemployment as a sabbatical. What happens when city space and time are no longer defined by employment? Where are the wonderful projects? Where are the intimate resources?

His wife is bored and wishes to have a more exciting life. Following a friend invitation to a high society party, she goes alone as Tom believes it is not his world. There she meets a rich man and becomes her lover. She starts to go back home very late and doesn't go to her daughter's school activities. Following arguments between Tom and Reusi, they finally agree to divorce and Reusi announce to him that he is not the real father of their daughter! The slum is also full of robers and drug sellers. What a damned life...

First, I wanted to make a kind of reflexively impoverished Busby Berkeley extravaganza. Second, I was interested in juxtaposing two cultural artifacts–which could be schematized as East/West, socialism/capitalism, propaganda/entertainment, as well as image/sound–and see how they reverberated. In other words, I wanted to make an essay out of things, as well as a communist musical. But the question arose–what was the ideology of such film play? Is MISSION TO MONGO aestheticized politics or political art? –J. H.

The title of The Morning After the Night of Power refers to a passage of the Koran in which angels descend from the heavens to impart the divine inspiration to followers. The central image of the tape is a blue vase standing motionless on a table. This object is framed by a dramatic interplay of light, shadow and movement, which is registered by a fixed camera over an extended period of time. Writes Viola, "As the condensed stillness of pure duration becomes activity, events hover at the edge of awareness until a final culminating action of transcendent liberation."

Adolescent French suburban lower-middle-class nerd Marc Morel was happy being the teacher's pet and school representative in a Latin competition. Until he meets and instantly falls in love with fatherless semi-illiterate shop clerk and ditto-daughter Martine Pérez. As his overbearing father Robert feared, stripling hormones run wild at the expense of academic future-building, but paternal authority is overruled by 'young love', which even yields peer-acceptance. Cool big brother Christian, a photographer, tries a more understanding approach, but even that runs into trouble.
