My first film (San Francisco, 1975) was Porter Springs, an exalted home movie shot on summer vacation in the North Georgia mountains at a place I have spent every August of my life including the month before I was born. Zainab and Qader take care of him; but Asgar's sense of pessimism and suspicion towards his wife and Qader increases. Asgar drags Qader to the palm grove and while he is praying, he cuts him to pieces with a turban and throws his body into the sea. General Hussein, who witnesses the incident, informs Zeinab; but he, unable to allay his wife's insane suspicion, kindly invites the local waterman to his house for lunch.
