In The Recognition Construction, each subject entering the frame is identified by a narrator, while the video camera slowly rotates. As the rotation speeds up the identification becomes more difficult, and the objects ultimately become "indecipherable."

Created in Basel, following Guyonnet's meeting with the conductor and patron Paul Sacher, Lucifer photophore exploits the possibilities offered by the EMS Spectre synthesizer. This work harmonizes sound and image in an unprecedented way, far from the musical accompaniment of figures or filmed elements.

I've always been interested in recording Chicago's history, particularly its offbeat and unofficial aspects. In a way, I consider myself a renegade home movie maker for the city. This piece focuses on Sox Park and my memories of it, which go way back. I've been documenting these moments for at least 25, maybe even 30 years—longer than I initially realized. I'm not entirely sure why I feel compelled to record these events, but I believe they represent an intriguing and unique history of the city. It's a history you wouldn't typically hear about or know unless someone like me took the time to document it.

"Let us suppose that the human condition can be pictured as a ferris wheel standing at the North Pole. This ferries wheel contains nine seats. They are labeled such: Lower Class, Middle Class, Upper Class, Jealousy, Ambition, Greed, Sadism, Masochism, and Religion [...] Where one gets on is simply a freak accident. It really makes no difference – all the seats are connected and bolted to the wheel by Choice and Acceptance. So in other words, one may board the wheel on the Lower Class seat and choose to move ahead to the Middle or Upper Class seats [...] Advancement is usually a long, hard process that throws many people from their seats for the benefit of one. Is such a profit worth it? What has been gained other than a sick, tired old body, free of friends and fun? Capital gain! Position! [...] The wheel turns round and round and so does the scramble. The last seat may be full of riders, but hell if they have anything to ride on." – Richard G. Merciez, 1975

A movie film shot continuously is a series of action shots, one frame at a time. This is because there is a continuation of movement between the images in one frame and the next. On the other hand, since each frame is a single photograph, it is possible to trim and enlarge or reduce the image frame by frame. For example, if the normal zoom process is A→B→C→D, by enlarging and reducing each frame, it can become C→A→D→B. This is not unnatural since a movie is a series of photographs. The movement of the subject is continuous within the image that is enlarged and reduced frame by frame.

"Jusqu'au bout" is dedicated to the hunger strike, in the Ménilmontant church in Paris, by fifty-six Tunisian workers to obtain their work permits. After a sequence showing the recruitment of workers in Tunisia itself, other immigrant workers testify to the harshness of their living conditions in France. Underlining the continuity between the anti-racist struggle and the fight against exploitation, the film follows the hunger strikers to victory, celebrated collectively in an unbridled dance.

The fight of the Portuguese workers of the company Applied Magnetics against the American employers, who resourced to the Ministry of Labour after not feeling vindicated by their requests for better working and living conditions. After an attempt of reconversion of the factory and a contact with the embassies of other socialist countries, they decide to deliver the facilities to GNR (Portuguese Nacional Republican Guard), due to the lack of perspectives, and find other jobs. The film is composed by images of interviews to women workers and abandoned facilites; and theatrical representations about the process of their struggle.

This short documentary examines the changing relations between labour and management in the long-established company town of Trail, BC, in which 90% of the workforce is employed by Cominco, the world’s largest lead-zinc smelter. The metal workers in the town are outspoken about the health risks associated with their line of work, and a debate about unionization ensues. The days of paternalistic management are gone, and the emphasis is now on participation and involvement. An eventual strike over dissatisfaction with labour relations turns violent when management, union executives, and workers clash over competing interests.
