A young woman is fired by her lover from her job in a bookstore and meets a trafficker she falls in love with. She becomes a heroin and prostitutes to buy the drug. The trafficker is arrested and she surrenders to the supplier in exchange for drugs. He pretends to care for a cemetery and demands money from him. She desperately kills him. When the trafficker leaves, he decides to rebuild his life and goes as a doctor to the mountains with the young woman. A semi-documentary film depicting the appeal of the idol group Zuttorubi, which was hugely popular in songs and dramas in the mid-1970s. In addition to the frenzy of concerts held in Hibiya and Kyoto, the film introduces the four members as they work hard on their singing and dancing lessons.

Nomina Sunt Odiosa is Fridrik Thór Fridriksson’s first film. The title is in Latin and means names are not necessary even pointless. Maybe that was a statement from the director for future films to come. Scenes from a school graduation party mix with shots of soft-drink bottles a conveyor belt. Both the bottles and the students are alike, universal, unoriginal and, above all, nameless. The film was screened at a school anniversary in March 1975 and broadcast on the only television station a few months later.

Using the structure of a feature film as its basic format, A First Quarter adopts the principles of nouvelle vague cinema. Simultaneous realities, altered flashbacks, and plays on time and space, are all components of the form and content of this film. Because it was originally shot on video, then kinescoped to 16mm film, A First Quarter has acquired a softened, poetic look. The dialogue derives entirely from the creation of the work as it is spoken and read, built, enacted, written, and painted by the players. As scenarios build, they appear as tropes, one after another.

"Gift from Agnes" is a movie that was shown at the "Toho Champion Festival" on March 15, 1975. It's more like a promotional video for an idol singer Agnes Chan, incorporating her poems. Finger 5's short film "Hello! Finger 5", which was screened in the previous year (1974), was well received, so Agnes Chan, who was a popular idol at the time, starred in the second one. However, this was the last time an idol short film was screened in the "Toho Champion Festival".
