Cinematic Era: 1974 Vintage

The film covers the oppression of Jews under the Nazis and features rare historical footage of concentration camps. The title is derived from a comment by a witness at Adolf Eichmann's trial. According to his testimony, he was whipped 80 times by the Nazis, but was not believed by Israelis after the war; this final doubt of his own people was the "81st blow". The 81st Blow is the first film in the Israeli Holocaust Trilogy by Bergman, Ehrlich and Gouri. It was followed by The Last Sea (1980) and Flames in the Ashes (1985).

Two lovers, Qais Aamri and Laila Bint Sarwar, from Nakhlistan, are unable to unite as Qais face opposition from Meet Sarwar, Laila's Father. However, when fate intervenes, Laila gets married to Shehzada Bakht while Qais goes to wanderness.

Suzanne has had enough of her boyfriend Albert. The drama unfolds in fifteen tableaux, in which she goes over to Albert's friend Emile. Still, these romantic worries go hand in hand with insatiable boredom.

The film follows the 1973 Giro d'Italia and in his commentary Leth explains the fascination exerted by the great cycle races: "The most beautiful, most pathetic images cycling can give us involve extreme performances in classic terrain."

Waiting for the moment you've been waiting for for 9 months: the birth of your child. A couple is faced with preparing for childbirth. Excitement and personal worries mingle, and even if a woman is surrounded during this so-called ‘magical’ moment, she finds herself alone in the face of her fatigue, contractions and pain. This unique moment is accompanied by medical explanations of childbirth, contractions, time management during labour and a discussion of contraception, making this film an educational documentary.

Due to complaints, an inspector comes to a small construction industry cooperative in Bihar. The three leaders that committed embezzlement and abuse begin to think about how they could escape from being held accountable. The president knocks down and robs the inspector, but they don't find the compromising documents on him. Therefore, they decide that one of them must sacrifice himself with a poisonous liquid called "fragrant road to nowhere"...

A ‘film wake’. Though celebratory in mood, it has a mournful subtext… death and dying. We dedicated it to Dr. Sam West, departed friend and patron of the arts, trusting that his ghost would approve our hi-jinx and seeming irreverence. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2002.

The day begins. Characters live their lives, animals theirs, a gentleman takes off his hat, a lady smokes a cigarette and the sun sets.

Late at night, a guest checks into the small hotel "Zum Spreewald-Idyll". The man seems suspicious. And he becomes even more suspicious over time. That's why they don't just call him "Katulla", he's "A certain Katulla". And he is not suspicious because he is suspected of evil, quite the opposite: he is suspicious because of his boundless helpfulness and kindness. Katulla is still kind even when he has to suffer disadvantages as a result. That's just not normal. So it is only normal that everything in the small hotel has been abnormal since this Katulla appeared.

A lucid, sincere and intricate political film, it demonstrates how French neocolonialism exploits migrant labor and exerts a cultural imperialism over their minds.

J.J. Murphy’s feature length experimental film is a meditation on light, chemistry, and the properties of photographic emulsion and can therefore be identified as a structuralist film. Beginning with points of red light, the film takes a single minute of film and reprints in over and over, moving through several levels of abstraction, then returning to them. Winner of several experimental film festival awards. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2011.

To make matters worse, they have part of their nest egg stolen, although it is well hidden in a cabin. An investigation will follow to find the culprit of the "crime". Will they get their money back?

This short documentary takes us to St. John's Cathedral Boys' School, at Selkirk, Manitoba, one of the most demanding outdoor schools in North America. As the school can’t accommodate every student wishing to enroll, boys of 13 to 15 years old are put through an initiation tougher than they have ever faced. They paddle canoes through some 500 kilometers of wilderness in 2 weeks, portaging and camping all the way, thereby learning vital outdoor lore, cooperation and self-confidence.

A man swims in the sea. This brings back memories. They are all connected to water, from his early childhood to his adult life.

Three children and their uncle find a magic painting in the uncle's attic. When they pronounce a spell, a lady named Esmeralda emerges from the painting. The lady must return to the painting, unless certain conditions are fulfilled. A magic drink, which makes them invisible, should help them. Two thieves (who seem to like nothing but cakes) kidnap one of the children to require a ransom. And it is found that a man, the father of Peter Faber (that's the name of an actor too, but not in this movie) is needed for help. That is not easy, since the they are not on friendly terms with Peter and his father.

Filmmaker Bruno Monsaingeon visits piano virtuoso Glenn Gould more than ten years after his self-imposed exile from the stage, which results in a mixture of interview and performance.

Because of work commitments and the influence of Christian Missions, traditional mourning ceremonies among the Tiwi people of Melville Island were becoming rare at the time of making this film (1974). The full, elaborate ceremony, called the Pukumani ceremony, lasted several days and involved large numbers of people in ritual roles. It was performed here with full awareness that this may be one of the last times such a ceremony would be staged in the traditional way. The ceremony was prepared by the Mangatopi family of Snake Bay after the death of a 35-year old family member killed by his wife. The dead man’s father, Geoffrey Mangatopi, and his family requested this film to be made as a public record of a disappearing tradition. Unique to the Tiwi people of Melville and Bathurst islands, the Pukumani ceremony was not only performed to safe-guard the passage of the dead person into the spirit world, but to re-affirm kinship relationships and traditional Tiwi culture.

The story of this model work unfolds during the Anti-Japanese War and takes place in the market town of Shajiabang (沙家浜), by Lake Yangcheng in Jiangsu Province. Shajiabang has become a center of guerrilla warfare against the Japanese after its liberation by the New Fourth Army. The company political instructor Guo Jianguang and seventeen other sick and wounded soldiers are recuperating in the town from their wounds. The Japanese troops, however, are bent on exterminating all New Fourth Army personnel from the area. Guo and his men have taken refuge in the nearby marshes.
