Billy, a 20-year-old working-class youth, returns from military service hoping to build an independent life. Instead, he clashes with his father over his future and reluctantly takes a job in construction. After his friend Mike, a migrant worker, dies in an accident caused by the contractor’s greed, Billy lashes out in anger and loses his job. At the same time, his relationship with his girlfriend Mieke begins to fall apart when she is suspended from her teaching position.

In the village he visits, he meets a young woman named Zeliş. On a rainy day, Zeliş cannot return home and stays at Kenan's house. Kenan returns to Istanbul a few months later. During this time, it is discovered that Zeliş is pregnant. Unable to endure the gossip and cruelty of the villagers, Zeliş flees the village. During this period, Çavuş supports her. Upon learning that the child has been born, Kenan comes to the village and takes the child. Zeliş believes that her child was stillborn. Years later, she sees a photo of Kenan with his son in the newspaper. She plans to kidnap Kenan's son to take revenge.

On the weekend they invite another couple for dinner, but the companionship and fun are gradually destroyed by quarrels and infidelity. Still, the two women finally seem to find understanding and solidarity in eachother. Week-End depicts how the political also permeate the private, in a way both original and typical of its age. The tension between old and new gender roles is one cause of the problems in the relationship between Reidun and Jan, but the political is just one aspect in a film that also deals with emotions, relations and identity. Week-End is rooted in 1970s social modernism, mixing modernist storytelling strategies with a political sub-theme of female identity and solidarity

In the Turkmen desert region, Artaq (Nasser Malek Motiei) sends his mother several times to propose to Qalich Khan's daughter; but the girl's father does not consent. West Pakistani troops searching for Asad arrive at his house with Razakar Daliluddin and snatch his sister's friend Rikta from his mother. Asad returns home and learns everything from his mother. Asad joins with Major Hassan and they conduct a military operation to liberate his village and rescue the tortured Rikta from West Pakistani troops. They win the battle. For nine months Asad fights with the freedom fighters and liberate Bangladesh from West Pakistan, undergoing for many hardships.

Assuming roles of both performer and director in "Gestures", Wilke explores her own face as artistic material. Whether kneading her skin into misshapen contortions or enacting stereotypical poses, she stages a fluid, continuous sequence of actions in front of the camera.
