Jomo Kenyatta's death in 1978 brought to an end a political career that encompassed more than 50 years of African history. Kenyatta entered politics in the mid-1920s and then spent 17 years in exile in Europe. He returned to Kenya in 1946, and was elected president of the nationalist movement, the Kenya African Union. Arrested and imprisoned in 1952 for allegedly leading 'Mau Mau', he was released in 1961 and two years later became Kenya's first Prime Minister. In power, the man whom European settlers had once reviled as "the leader to darkness and death" was eulogized by them as a pillar of stability, while former allies challenged him by creating a left-leaning political opposition. Kenyatta weaves archival and contemporary images with interviews with friends and relatives, comrades and opponents, to create a biographical portrait of a key figure in 20th century politics, and a case study of what Frantz Fanon called the pitfalls of nationalism as a political force in Africa.

The images are black and white and with camera close-ups, it denounces the restless, strong-willed hands of Elis.

The film tells the story of a farmer who is swindled while trying to go to Germany to get his land back. Tahsin loses his land when he is unable to pay his debt to Gaffar Ağa. Tahsin, whose wife died during childbirth, decides to go to Germany. When Tahsin comes to Istanbul to go to Germany, he loses his money and passport to swindlers. While wandering around Istanbul, not knowing what to do, he catches the swindlers at a nightclub. However, he cannot get his money or passport back. The club owner, Kazım, listens to Tahsin's story and offers him a job working for him. Tahsin accepts the offer and begins to make money quickly. Upon hearing of this, Gaffar Ağa sends his men to Istanbul to kill Tahsin.

Things may not be fast at the German post office, but they're a lot of fun: postal supervisor Max Sparwein knows a thing or two about it, because he really can't complain about boring and monotonous service on his tour through the city. The five-year-old kid Dimo must go to the kindergarten. He is not used to talking to the other kids and he has problems adjusting. His teacher gives him the task of taking care of aquarium. Dimo caused a flood, catches a old and stays at home for few days. Once day his parents take him to the zoo. His mother shows him the tiger cage and tells him that he looks as a little tiger. When Dimo goes back to the kindergarten, he makes a mess again, refuges to apologize and runs off. He walks around the streets of Sofia, plays on the swings in the park, goes to the distorted mirrors room, watches a soccer practice and becomes an unwilling participant in a TV show. The teachers in the kindergarten are worried about his disappearance. A search begins. Without suspecting anything, two young people take Dimo to a restaurant but have an accident on their way back. The young people run away and Dimo hides in telephone booth, from where he calls his house. His parents look for him with no success.
