Maspalomas, in the south of the Gran Canaria island, as well as an international tourist centre, is also an important agricultural centre dedicated to tomatoes. The lands are cultivated by families from all around the island who work not as salaried workers but as sharecroppers (aparceros). These families, during the seven months that the harvest lasts, live in barracks built by the owners in the same land they cultivate. Between tomatoes, the aparceros cultivate other products for their own food and for their animals. Water is scarce and it's really appreciated. At the end of the harvest, the day of San Fernando, the aparceros celebrate in popular festivities, which include cockfighting and lucha canaria. This documentary was recorded in 1972, but couldn't be shown until the year 1977, as the Franco regime's censorship retained its exhibition permit.

From renowned Japanese graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist Awazu Kiyoshi, Furyu (1972) is a testament to the ephemeral beauty of interplaying light and shadow. A rarely shown sensorial experience.

Sound Strip / Film Strip is Paul Sharits' first "Locational" work, made in collaboration with Bill Brand. The piece was commissioned for the 1972 opening exhibition of the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston,Texas. “...Sound Strip / Film Strip consists of four film loops simultaneously projected sideways so that the four images abut one another horizontally. Sharits made each loop by filming colored surfaces, scratching the film, projecting it so that the sprocket holes showed on the screen; he then filmed that projection, scratched the result, and projects that as the final object. The resulting image is a continuous flicker of various color ranges with both actual and ‘virtual’ scratches and sprocket holes running horizontally (normally vertically) across the screen. Thus, Sharits is working with filmic abstraction which employs no image save for that inherent in the medium itself....”

The film De straat (The Street) opens with scenes of a protest in a street. Right after, we see aerial views of a busy highway. The narrator's words say it all: 'The street has become nothing more than a highway – a movement machine, as Le Corbusier called it. The heart of the city, the street, has turned into nothing but a space for traffic.' The car has ruined both the street and community life, and the footage hits this message home. Shots of Belgian cities overrun by cars and trucks are mixed with peaceful clips of Italian towns, where kids spend their whole day playing outside. In short, the film is a powerful critique of motorized traffic in our cities
Analog video was not only an alternative to more expensive motion picture film for artists. It was also a viable new medium with specific attributes all its own. In On Screen, characteristics such as video snow and audio static become more pronounced and distorted with each subsequent version of the artist within the “TV” frame. As Lynda Benglis performs a sequence of pulling faces for the camera in triplicate, we become aware that the performance is based on memory, sometimes faulty—a kind of symbiotic conflation of artist and machine.

"Sunshine Singapore pairs lurid, dream-like visuals of 1970s Singapore with music which leads the viewer through a variety of moods – oscillating between the languid and exotic, to the unfailingly upbeat – embodying the contradictions facing a nation on the cusp of modernity. In a departure from the detached quality of black-and-white archival footage, Gour offers a hopeful imagination of Singapore then and showcases his playful infatuation with its urban environment. A 4K restoration of Sunshine Singapore was made possible using the surviving 16mm film print preserved by the Asian Film Archive and restored by Cineric Inc. in 2018." (Asian Film Archive)
