'Slides' came about through some fascination with the phenomena of matter, its frailty and transcience, the oddness of tiny filmed images from my earlier work lying around. Working with these parts, 35 mm slides cut into strips, thread, sewn film, light leaked footage, 8mm and 16mm fragments, I hand held this material in the contact printer. Images were created by movement and handling, literally keeping in touch with the elements.'

Clockmaker is a 1971 short film directed by Richard Gayer. It is a look at the one-man cottage industry of Martin Burgess, a man who has revived the medieval craft of ornamental clock-making and who is solely responsible, for his bizarre, often gargantuan , but always strikingly elegant timepieces. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 1973.

Produced in 1971 by the collective behind the magazine “Che fare” and directed by Francesco Leonetti and Arnaldo Pomodoro, the film analyzes the socio-political context of 1969-1970 Italy, denouncing the death of the anarchist Giuseppe Pinelli and recounting the defamation lawsuit filed by police commissioner Luigi Calabresi against the weekly magazine “Lotta Continua,” which had accused him of the murder. Combining different genres and temporal perspectives—documentary and fiction—the film stands as a significant example of the “militant cinema” that became an important tool for counter-information in the 1960s and 1970s. Presented at the Mostra internazionale del Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro in 1971, “Processo politico” was deemed excessively experimental and provoked harsh reactions from audiences and critics alike.

What is a frame? He attempts to make a film that doesn't have the normal 16mm frame. He also doesn't respect standard recording principles. Thus, a distinction must be made between: - the real time during which he films the object (himself) through his camera. - the time the film is recorded. These two periods do not always correspond to real time. The image must illustrate the search for these different notions of time. To achieve this, he experiments and places a 16mm film on top of a 35mm film during the shooting.

February 15 1971 marked the official date the United Kingdom decimalised from its historic pounds, shillings and pence to the new system of 100 new pence to the pound. Known as Decimalisation, Decimal or simply ‘D’ Day, it ended the centuries old tradition of using 12 pence to the shilling and 20 shillings to the pound. Although work on the new system began in earnest in March 1966, new coins were gradually phased in up to D-day in 1971. In April 1968 the first of the new coins, the five and ten new pence, were introduced with equal value to the old shilling and florin coins respectively. A year later the new 50 pence coin was released, replacing the ten-shilling note. The remaining decimal coins – the one, two and halfpenny coins – were all introduced on 15 February 1971.
