No one knows why for certain, but from 1968 to 1973 communist Albania enjoyed a brief liberalisation in the arts. Banned books and Beatles records changed hands. Albania’s Nobel-nominated novelist Ismail Kadare wrote two of his most famed masterpieces, Kështjella (The Castle) (1970) and Kronikë në gur (Chronicle in Stone) (1971) during this period. Several performers seen in the festival were sent to prison or internal exile. The portly, smiling music conductor, Gasper Çurçia, was later accused of forging bus tickets and executed.

Three brothers of Jang-Su, Man-Su, and Jong-Su, and Bo-Ki, Su-Ni, and Jang-Su's wife Sam-Ok live together. A group of bandits kidnap Sam-Ok and demands that Jang-Su bring the skin of the white fox. Three brothers succeed in killing the white fox, but the evil spirit of the white fox begins to haunt them. The dead white fox gets incarnated as Sam-Ok, who is killed by three brothers, and Jin-Jin, an incarnated female white fox, marries Man-Su. Jin-Jin kills Bo-Ki who knew she is a fox, and kills also Man-Su and Jong-Su. Su-Ni succeeds in killing the evil fox which tried to kill her, also.

An extremely honest forest ranger fights for the trust to the very end.

Steina has remarked that she learned the craft of camerawork as documentarian thanks to these celebratory, countercultural scenes of the "sexual avant-garde"-- Participation also features a pulsing light show projection at the Fillmore East, and a scene from Off-Broadway drag theater.

Good Morning is a 1971 short film directed by Ken Greenwald, with Roger Carroll and Vern Rowe. It follows a man who wakes up hoping to have a good day, but reality keeps getting in the way. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.

In a small town in the interior of São Paulo, everyone lives happily: Tinoco and his fiancée Joana, Pirulito and Nhá Barbina. One day, the men in charge of opening a railroad arrive and, with them, trouble. Paulo, one of the engineers, tries to get Joana away from Tinoco. Tinoco is accused of stealing the workers' money and is arrested. Tonico pressures the delegate to investigate the case so that Tinoco can prove his innocence.

Bobby Joe Smith returns to his home in a small town, having changed his name, his outlook on life, and gained a career as a Hollywood star. Bobby Joe finds a renewed love in Jenny Jenkins, his childhood sweetheart, whose father is the town reverend and who believes that Bobby Joe has returned as a corrupt and demoralized person. Jenny's father jealously wants no connections between Bobby and Jenny, and takes measures to keep Bobby Joe from attending any of the Homecoming activities by persuading some local boys to beat him up. This builds to a crashing climax which is utterly shocking and unexpected.

This is a still from the film 'Where are we Heading?' which was made by The Commonwealth Film Unit in 1971 and directed by Arch Nicholson. The film presents an open ended look at the effects that different parental attitudes to life and the family unit have on adolescents. Directed mainly at adult audiences, especially parents and community leaders it deals with the social issues around all types of drug use.
