“Tomorrow’s Promise is a film about vacantness. Which physically does ‘begin’, reversed, upside down on the screen […] suddenly another such position is taken (not in reverse), this time by a male figure and soon, in this same section, the girl of the reversed image reappears posed in a different way; a way obsessed by ‘mood’. Then a technical play of in-the-camera-editing occurs, more intense, brighter than in the first, reversed section. There are several inter-cuts which serve, in this and each subsequent section unto the end, as relative links into the final section: which is actually the ‘story’. The story the protagonist and her hero try to tell in their way is apophysis; except that ‘pictures’, clear visions take the place of words. My film could have been edited with precise tensions and a lucid straight narrative, but it was my aim to ‘re-create’ the protagonist of my personal life.” - Edward Owens

When Jacques Offenbach's melodies are heard, the delighted audience usually asks very little about the man who inspired the great composer with his texts and fable sketches, namely the librettist Ludovic Halévy, who stood in the master's shadow. He and his friend Meilhac came up with the story of 'Belle Helena', for example, at the very moment when the scandalous stories about the Empress Eugénie were being whispered in the Parisian salons. 'Pariser Leben', 'Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein', 'La Périchole', 'Die Banditen' and 'Orpheus in der Unterwelt' are just a few of the works in which the French present of the Second Empire - around 100 years ago - was mocked with Offenbach-Halévy-like irreverence on the stage of the cheerful musical theater. And that's where we want to go now, among the wax figures of the Second Empire, which of course all, almost all, let's say around midnight, come to life.

Especially difficult about the 'Pillar' is an extreme overhang, which even Hias Holleis’ sons Toni and Franz haven’t been able to climb. Since Hias wants to prevent his village becoming the laughing stock of Tyrol -which no doubt will be the case if the strangers are able to climb what the locals can’t- he dares both his sons to try the climb again.
