Cinematic Era: 1963 Vintage

Hosted by Herbert A Philbrick, celebrated double-agent for the FBI and author of "I Led 3 Lives," this film is an excellent record of one of Philbrick's lectures about the evils of Communism he would give across the country.

Four gentlemen play house music with dedication and enthusiasm. They don't let anything get in their way. One of the four is put behind bars by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution because his scientific work is being published in the GDR. A NATO maneuver rages around the house and intrudes into their private lives. The roof catches fire and half the house collapses. The musicians continue to play the well-known canon: "Heaven and earth may pass away, but the musicians..."

Clown Ferdinand travels to Berlin under adventurous conditions. Unfortunately, he has forgotten to book a hotel room in time. And so he puts himself and the group of children up in a completely unsuitable room in the children's department store. But as always, he solves all the problems that arise with a lot of charm and fun.

The adventures of a young man who becomes a bandit due to circumstances beyond his control. He seeks revenge for the death of his father, a defenseless victim of a powerful landowner who terrorized farmers in rural Bahia in the early decades of the century.

At first, the demolition of a biography. Shortly before his death, Fejos tells his life story. His voice, the melody of his Hungarian-accented English, his humour and his ability to tell stories lead us through the short documentation. Then it becomes an ethno-drama. The film travels from Sweden to Siam and poetically and powerfully shows how much work it is for a young couple to produce a handful of rice.

He fails to meet the children who make friends with Jiminy, a Maltese boy, and go to the villa where they overhear two crooks threatening their father. The cooks fool the police to whom the children have gone. They escape and make their way finally to Gozo to see their father's colleague where they all captured. Hopping into his outboard motorboat, he puts One-Eyed Jack under arrest, but One-Eyed Jack promptly sinks him and his boat with pistol fire. One-Eyed Jack laughs, but Willoughby arrests him again from the conning tower of a submarine.

Pai Ching-jui traveled to Italy in 1960 and enrolled in the prestigious Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome in 1962, becoming the first Chinese student ever admitted to the institution. He graduated in 1963 with an experimental short film, Un Amore (鐘情者痴), which he wrote and directed himself — a playful work staging a "love scene" between an actor and a camera. He remains the first Taiwanese filmmaker to have studied cinema in Italy.

She pretends to be frivolous so that the young engineer distances himself from her and gets closer to the headman's daughter, even though she loves the engineer and suffers from losing him.
