A doctor in 1890 England, in order to cure his wife's "sick mind," injects her with snake venom. She later gives birth to a daughter whom the villagers call "The Devil's Baby" and in a fit of fear they end up burning the family's house down. Years later a Scotland Yard detective is sent to the village to investigate a rash of deaths that are caused by snakebite.

Ambitious but thwarted, Rae Smith meets handsome Marine Paul Saxon, (of the Saxon department store chain), as he passes through Lincoln, Nebraska, on his way home from World War II. There's a definite spark between them but circumstances intervene and he leaves town without her. Later she learns he's married. Determined to make it as a fashion designer, Rae moves to New York and becomes a great success. One day she happens to meet Paul again and again there's that spark but he's still married so, as a form of escape, Rae moves to Rome to set up shop. Once again she meets Paul and finally they begin an actual affair since Paul's shrewish, drunken wife, Liz, won't give him a divorce. Time passes, the affair continues whenever time and place permit, but then, Paul's young son finds out about Rae and Rae's back-street world begins to crumble.

The country estate of American emigre Abel Bellamy is haunted by the ghost of the Green Archer, a 14th century Robin Hood type figure who terrorised the former lords of the manor. Now, with the gangster coming home on vaguely defined business and his niece Valerie arriving with her adoptive father to take up residence in the adjacent mansion, much to Bellamy's annoyance, the archer has returned. Who is he and what does he want?

Upon receiving a score of mysterious phone calls revealing Ku's whereabouts, Lui lures the woman out with Bo-bo as bait, subduing and detaining the suspect. The detective fathoms the mystery of the murder case which leads him to another suspect, But Kei. But has been extorting money from Sit and forces his daughter, the sole heir to his inheritance, into marriage in return for concealing his murder-for-money scheme. But submits to arrest without resistance while Ku and husband walk free, acquitted of the charges.

Siu-kuen is forced to be a mistress to pay back her family debts. Chin is about to marry Siu-kuen as his mistress. Lai-ping and Siu-kuen are friends and Lai-ping wants to help her. Lai-ping and Siu-wah have never met and they argue. Lai-ping separates their rooms, Siu-wah's glass frame was accidentally shattered by Lai-ping. Lai-ping meets her penpal and find out that Siu-wah him. They teach each other to trick their flatmates. Lai-ping puts a fake snake in his room. Siu-wah puts pins on her bed. The two eventually realized who each other is. Lai-ping helps Siu-kuen pay off her debt and not marry Manager Chin. Chi-on discovers that his boss' husband is Siu-kuen's husband-to-be. Chi-on reveals the truth to Mrs. Chin. Chin cancels the marriage. Lai-ping and Siu-wah become a couple.

This Western is set in the Mexican valley of Sonora not that far south of the state of Arizona. But the situation deteriorates and a new ally comes into the picture, Steve Fallon, a wandering gunslinger who may not be able to handle the bad guys alone.

Su Yanan joins the army and fights. Jianbai enlists to be near her. A-Lan becomes a nurse at a battlefront hospital and Qiuming entertains the troops. (Grace Chang, Cathay's leading musical star at the time, performs some rousing patriotic numbers in these scenes.) Jianbai is reunited with Su in the battlefield, but...
