Cinematic Era: 1960 Vintage

The subsea well constructed in Gela in 1959 by Eni was the first of its kind in Europe. The facility consisted of two interdependent complexes: a steel platform on the sea floor and a support ship. The very viscous oil gushed from the Sicilian land to flow to collection centers.

At camp, the boys Mäxchen and Knirps make friends with a squirrel. Envious Emil wants to spoil their fun with the little animal and invents a hair-raising story in which he allegedly captures a wild lion, tames it and takes it home with him. Mäxchen's bragging gets too much, he steals away and lets out a menacing lion's roar with the help of a watering can. Emil flees, his hair dusted with horror. Everyone rejoices at his embarrassment - including the squirrel.

The film depicts company co-founder Simon Ramo’s concept of ‘polymorphic computing’ and is based on a "doodle essay" that he made (think -- 1960s pencil driven Power Point). The film anticipates innovations in the evolution of technology from parallel processing to peer to peer file sharing and cloud computing as well as the architecture of ARPANET and the architecture of the internet. The film was presented by TRW, an American corporation which was involved in several businesses including aerospace, automotive and credit reporting.

This film traces the development of the first French nuclear bomb, from its construction to its explosion in the Sahara on February 13, 1960. This operation was called “Gerboise Bleue,” although the narrator does not mention it. At that time, nuclear weapons were possessed by three major powers: the United States, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain. In turn, France, under the responsibility of the Military Applications Division of the Atomic Energy Commission, embarked on its own nuclear testing program.
