John Betjeman reminisces on Britain's great historical exhibitions since the 1870s: including Alexandra Palace, the Empire Exhibition at Wembley and the Festival of Britain. Also features a very special guest appearance by the National Film Theatre (today’s BFI Southbank).

On the occasion of a sculpture exhibition organized at the Musée Cernuschi in 1959 on the theme of the relationship between East and West through fifty centuries of art, Enrico FULCHIGNONI attempts to show how, through Egyptian art, Greek art was influenced by Etruscan and Oriental arts. Commentary by Pierre HENRY, narrated by Pierre CHAMBON, and camera work highlight the similarities between the various sculpted statuettes, in terms of profiles, smiles and attitudes. The original music by Iannis XENAKIS seems to pay homage to these vanished civilizations.

Eight American soldiers, commanded by Lt. Eason, are chosen to infiltrate the Ploesti oil field in order to set signal fires to guide Allied bombers to Germany's most closely guarded target of the war. When landing in Roumania, they are supposed to be met by a partisan as their guide, but he has been killed by an Allied air-raid, and they are met instead by his daughter Nitza, who is very hostile to the Americans as she blames them for the death of her father. As they make their way to the oil field, Nitza and Manjack fall in love. He is killed in a skirmish with German troops and, as a dying wish, asks Nitza to continue with the group and help them with their mission. She does, the signal fires are set and Ploesti is destroyed.

Aging Duke of Altair, a charming widower, plans a third marriage and enlists his son Edgar to choose among three noblewomen. Unexpectedly, Perpetua, young, spirited daughter of the late stewardб returns after a decade, instantly captivating both father and son. As their affections collide, the Duke realizes he cannot stand in his son’s way. In a moment of wise selflessness, he withdraws from Perpetua’s pursuit and instead courts Rosabel Fleming, honoring both tradition and his heir’s happiness.

Lela and Manja are two siblings who are being abused by their stepmother, Dang Suri. They are being tortured to do daily errands without any pity on them. Their live's became more unberable as their father leaves for a month on duty. Within this time they are being abused to the max while their stepmother starts a secret relationship with Tok Megat. One day as they were searching for firewood along the river they saw their stepmother fooling around with Tok Megat in the river. One day the father found out and was killed after. The incident was witnessed by the two childrens and fled away to save their own lives. As the reached the river to the boat Lela slipped and didnt have time to get on the boat leaving Manja floating away all alone with no direction to where he is going. Will they ever see each other again?

With his nose pressed against the glass, four-year-old Ionel watches the kids playing ball in the street with great interest. His father, a schoolteacher, has lost his job. Now he goes to various institutions in vain, because in bourgeois Romania it is not easy to find a job. Ionel waits for his father every night and while waiting for him he dreams of getting a real yellow ball for his birthday. His father realizes that it is necessary to get the money and buy the ball. After all, the boy is crippled, and the ball is the only hope for him to get well...

Ella Fitzgerald visited Australia back in 1960. Gracefully stepping up to the microphone for the celebrated television event 'The BP Super Show', hosted by musician and entertainer Horrie Dargie, Fitzgerald delivered a mellifluous set of legendary songs in an intimate concert setting at The Embers Nightclub in Toorak Road, South Yarra Victoria. This rarely seen B&W television treat is considered to be one of the earliest audio-visual recordings of the 'First Lady of Song', backed by the smooth sounds of the Lou Levy Quartet. Beside Fitzgerald's performance of 14 memorable Jazz and Blues classics, the program also contains original BP musical interludes and jingles from the Horrie Dargie Quartet.

Bhakta Kanakadasa is a 1960 Indian Kannada language film, directed by Y. R. Swamy. It depicts the spiritual journey of Kanakadasa, who was a devotee of the Hindu deity Krishna, and a poet belonging to the Dasa sect. The film stars Rajkumar, Krishna Kumari and Udaykumar in the major roles. This film, officially marked the 100th production/release of Kannada cinema, since its inception in 1934.

Didi, loves to play marbles, and has a lucky marble that he calls Si Jimat (Lucky Charm). When his father sends him to buy a box of matches, he is tempted to play a game with his friends. Then a “sunatan” procession (children’s circumcision ceremony) passes by. His friends leave the game to follow the procession. Didi also forgets to take Si Jimat and the box of matches. Another boy finds the matches and accidentally starts a big fire. When Si Jimat is found nearby the burnt matches, Didi’s father is furious so Didi runs away from home and goes to the top of a chalk hill. Didi’s parents are frantic and when they can’t get him down from the hill, an Air Force helicopter finally rescues Didi.

Entrepreneur Silly Wong returns from overseas having made a fortune there. His godson Tsim Tsui-mau and wife Ho Bit-siu, and friend George Cheung use every trick in the book, even hiring the alluring singer Lin Yung-so, to entertain and curry favour with the loaded returnee. Unfortunately Wong's saving, totalling 10 million dollars, is only due to arrive in two weeks. Penniless, he remains evasive over financial matters. Tsim thinks that Wong is a swindler and leaves in a fit of anger. Lin gives him a hand in his moment of need, and love blossoms between them. Mau and others believe that Lin must have gathered evidence of Wong's wealth and thus forcibly take him home. Realising Tsim's snobbishness, Wong admits to a fuming Tsim that he a broke man. Finally the money arrives. Wong cherishes Lin's love and marries her, but shows the door to the remorseful Tsim and friends.

Two young people (Christina Silva and Takis Varlamos), living in a provincial town, fall in love with each other and are stolen. After a wild chase, the girl returns pregnant to her father (Theodoros Moridis), who removes the newborn, saying that she died in childbirth. The girl leaves for Athens where she marries a businessman (Lambros Konstantaras), but loses her eyesight in an accident. Her father, remorseful, investigates and discovers the child (Takis Vidos) and the woman, because of unspeakable joy, regains her sight.

Three communities at the foot of the Charlevoix cliffs, Petite-Rivière, île-aux-Coudres and Les Éboulements, practise the myriad trades of the sea.
