Cinematic Era: 1948 Vintage

The difficulty in finding accommodation in Paris, will cause many stories, between some colorful characters.

On the borders of the desert, Péhu, a rather blunt creature on the verge of death, confesses to Charles Sigouane that some time before he stole and killed for the sake of a woman named Marie. Péhu recovers against all odds and returns to France with a view to finding Marie and to retrieve a loot he has hidden somewhere.

In 1905 Hungary, a young village woman has just undergone a marriage to the spoiled son of a man to whom her father is indebted, in order that the debt be cancelled, only to be spirited away by her true love, a young peasant, by whom she soon becomes pregnant. Together they attempt to find a way to buy up her father's debt and also pay for a divorce from her husband, against various odds.

A documentary about the Venetian lagoon, with the words of Diego Fabbri narrating scenes of strips of land swallowed up by the sea, of small boats sailing on the water, of men and women concentrating on their work in a world which is "a false sea and a false land."

A travelogue, this film provides a guided tour of pre-World War II Utah and of course does not pretend to cinematic greatness. Recommended viewing for those in search of introductory Utah history. Also valuable for persons seeking insight into the state as it would have looked during this time period. Especially informative for those desiring a window into the past for a view of how Utah was in the days of their pre-World War II progenitors living in the state. Those whose Utah ancestors were involved in mining, railroading, sugar beets, and other featured industries; featured towns, sights, recreational attractions, and industries may find this otherwise banal travelogue a quite valuable addition to their family history.

Captain Harms still suffers from the bomb attack on his ship. He can not put up with sitting on land, but is afraid of take to the sea. Slowly he is becoming more and more frustrated and gradually falls into alcohol addiction.

Sent by the U.S. government as a participant in the Marshall Plan with a specific mission to assist the French in re-gearing their animation studios, Stapp discovered a Europe much-decimated by war, but in further danger of annihilation by nuclear weapons. Returning to the U.S., he produced this alarming-yet-hopeful film, replete with its lonely, Tanguy-inspired landscapes peopled with static figures casting long shadows across charcoal-colored plains. While taking the risk of leaning a bit toward didacticism, Stapp managed to urgently convey the thought that world destruction was not necessarily inevitable, provided that people embrace, rather than reject their cultural and racial differences. ‘Picture’ is a unique document resulting from the sometimes dreamy, sometimes nightmarish vision of the artist in a war-torn land, with the spectre of death hovering ever-so-slightly ahead.

A lady visited Mr. Surajit Roy, a detective, with a proposal to steal a will from a landlord's house. Surajit did not accept the assignment. Soon after, he received a telegram from one Rajib Lochan Choudhury, zamindar of a remote village in Murshidabad district. It appeared that Rajib Lochan's life was in danger. When Surajit visited his house the zamindar had already been murdered. Detective Surajit started an investigation while staying at the house. He saw a nurse, Anima, appointed for Rajib Lochan and recalled that this lady went to him with the proposal of theft. There were several relatives and servants in the house but most of them concealed some or other facts from him. Finally, Surajit was successful in tracking down the real culprit

Chatelard, one of Viscount de Kerlec's guests, has died in mysterious conditions. The police initiates an investigation and sends detective-inspector Pauc to de Kerlec's manor. Pauc decides to mingle with the viscount's guests , who are all likely to have committed the murder. Among them, there is Jacques Mauclerc, a naval officer, and a seedy character named Bartoli, in fact a spy in search of secret documents. Pauc will end up untangling the web during a dramatic séance.

Henri, a basically honest fellow, accepts to work for a gang of burglars only to revenge himself on Fournier-Salville, a wealthy businessman who once ruined him. His role will be to become Fournier-Saville's majordomo and at the same time to inform the burglars so as to facilitate their work. But once in the house he performs his task so well and so stylishly that he becomes indispensable. Moreover, Eve, the businessman's capricious daughter, does not remain insensible to his charms.

The film presents Mr. Larsen, who without wanting to and without knowing it, is ruthless when he rides a bicycle and spreads fear and arouses anger around him. Also at home, he acts ruthlessly until his son reminds him of §2. The film ends with an invitation to people to become §2 people. §2 requires people to exercise caution and consideration.

A film documenting preparations for the 11th Sokol festival – from training in gyms throughout the country to practical issues concerning the organisation of the event. It shows how accommodation, catering, and transport in Prague were dealt with during the festival as well as how it was necessary to refurbish a stadium for it. It counts the numbers of workers and tons of material. It shows crowds heading to the stadium and it ends with the opening ceremony for the event.

The actual process of plant growth is revealed for us by the time-lapse camera. We see a practical result of the botanist’s work in British Columbia’s important seed industry. Children, too, at the Montreal Botanical Gardens, cultivating their own plots of ground, take part in the quest for the secrets of nature.

Manu unwittingly accompanies a fugitive conman across the French border into Italy. Agreeing to meet later, the conman doesn't arrive at the arranged meeting point and is then discovered dead, with Manu the prime suspect.

We visit Martin Block at his studio desk at 11:30 AM at the height of his popularity as a disk jockey, when more than 400 radio stations carried his show. Block opens the show with Freddie Martin's first big hit, "Tonight We Love," an adaption of a Tchaikovsky piano concerto; he dedicates it to a listener in Wyoming, and we see her daydreaming as she listens. Then Keenan Wynn stops in for a chat, asking Block about being a DJ. Between bits of conversation with Wynn, Block plays three more Martin records, including "Cumana," and we see the band in action.

Oil Can Harry captures Mighty Mouse and traps him in the Mohave desert about to be eaten by vultures. Harry kidnaps Pearl Pureheart's father, the Colonel, ties him with a boulder and drops him off the Brooklyn Bridge and into the East river teeming with hungry crocodiles, then he goes after Pearl. The cops were too late to stop him as Harry absconds with Pearl. Meanwhile, Mighty Mouse breaks free and clobbers the vultures, rescues the colonel and his daughter and defeats Harry once again. Lots of singing in this operetta! This cartoon was produced in that old radio serial style, with the announcer setting the scene and interjecting throughout.

The farmer Magni is planning to marry Teresia, but the maid Lovisa has other plans.

During the war, a small town butcher store, drug dealer Li Buyun, rogue Liu Tianyuan, soldier gangster Pan Qishan and a group of villains on the orders of the Japanese commander Yamamoto, secretly planning to set up a traitor organization to maintain the Association. They are fighting for oil and water, and Yamamoto has to send police chief Yang Kecheng to strengthen control, but Yang is an uncompromising straw man. Liu Tianyuan and Pan Qishan get a batch of arms to sell to a buyer outside the city, but the news is learned by Li Buyun, and the two sides fight for profit. When Pan Qishan came to report that the buyer of the arms was a guerrilla group. The gunfire is so loud that the villains hide in the basement, only to be blown up by the guerrillas with the grenades they are selling.

When her father dies, the young protagonist must endure the injustices of her stepmother. Her life changes when Uncle Carlos appears, a generous man who suffers from blindness and who falls in love with the village teacher, who ardently corresponds to him.
