June 22, 1941. The day began as usual at a museum on the western border of the Soviet Union, but in the afternoon a bloodied horseman burst into the museum courtyard. It was the commander of the guard. The museum director, his wife, the gardener, and the commander set up a makeshift barricade. Soon a fascist motorcade appeared. The museum's defenders fought fiercely and held off the enemy until rescue forces arrived.

A homely old maid hen with buck teeth tries to get a boyfriend at an all-chicken barn dance. The only one she's interested in is a cornball practical joker in an old-fashioned straw hat, who returns her affection with embarrassing dirty tricks. When she's in an egg laying competition, he slips her some gum that causes her to lay a bursting, gooey balloon, and he tricks her into eating hot pepper-laced ice cream. She finally becomes the belle of the affair when her pepper-infused smooching is a hit at the kissing booth.
Also known as Prince of Wales Island, Penang is a British colony located off the west coast of the Malay peninsula. As it is an island, many residents make their livelihood off the water, such as in fishing or port activities as it serves as both a vital link in the chain of British colonies and one of the major ports of entry into the Malay. Penang's major city and capital is George Town, with approximately 160,000 inhabitants, primarily Chinese, Malay or South Asian. The Chinese dominate life on the island, economically, culturally, and in sheer numbers. Because of the diverse racial mix, there are also an associated number of different religions, one which specifically worships the snake, the nocturnal and poisonous adder roaming freely through its temple at night. Also because of the diverse racial mix, there is also often a blending of cultures, such as in the cuisine of the island.
As night falls, the metal-rooster on the weather vane comes to life and, winging his way to an old mill, rouses a scarecrow and a swarm of bug en-route. Soon, the creatures of the night gather in an improvised auditorium in the old mill, and the place is soon rocking and rolling with the singing and dancing provided by the night-crawling nightclub crowd. The festivities cease when dawn breaks and the creatures and things that stir in the night become quiet again.
